Great Falls High School Football Coach resigns.
Last season Great Falls high school had to forfeit the playoffs, because they didn't have enough football players, now they don't even have a coach.Someone please go and help turn that program around, maybe Taneyhill will take the job. http://www.heraldonline.com/sports/high ... 93780.html" target="_blank Look at this news clip about Taneyhill. http://wspa.com/2016/01/13/steve-taneyh ... dismissal/" target="_blank

It's a small 1a school. Unless they get a coach with a bunch of high school aged kids, not sure what a new coach could do.Wild Stallion wrote:Last season Great Falls high school had to forfeit the playoffs, because they didn't have enough football players, now they don't even have a coach.Someone please go and help turn that program around, maybe Taneyhill will take the job. http://www.heraldonline.com/sports/high ... 93780.html" target="_blank Look at this news clip about Taneyhill. http://wspa.com/2016/01/13/steve-taneyh ... dismissal/" target="_blank

With small schools like Great Falls sometimes you stop one program, to save another, when you have both a Varsity team and Junior Varsity team, you may have to bring some, or even all the Junior Varsity up to keep the Varsity squad full, even if you have to do away with the Junior Varsity squad. And also a good new head coach can bring in a lot of energy, and excitement to a failed program, and even the whole community, look at Goosecreek as a example.

From what I understand, there are less than 40 boys that attend the high school. May be time for 8 man football. The district looked into combining them with Lewisville High in the last few years. With the community, that didn't go over very well. I hate to see the struggles their program is having.

I remember when Great Falls had some good teams..sorta like Lockhart in baseball...we played em both at Blacksburg...GF had to have the hardest playing surface/field in SC, down in a hole..that was the 70's...cavaliereagle wrote:From what I understand, there are less than 40 boys that attend the high school.
