Can Dillon continue the streak in the 'new 3A' ?
Re: Can Dillon continue the streak in the 'new 3A' ?
Someone mentioned Georgetown challenging Dillon...Loris actually has played them close & beaten them...Dillon beat the brakes off Lake City the last time they met...but hey Dillon lost a lot to graduation...the first team to beat Dillon in over 2 years will have bragging rights.

Dillon can handle it... they've been on the big stage against big time opponents. Ie, Union Yellow Jackets and Roscoe Crosby in 99', that's one of the best damn games I've ever seen in high school football.. Hamilton vs Crosby

What players on this year's team played in the 3A and 4A state championship games you speak of? NONE. While history is nice it does nothing to determine the outcome at the high school level. Especially considering the history you speak of was in the 90s before any of these current kids were born. Your comment would be like saying the Dallas Cowboys will win the Super Bowl next year because they have won Super Bowls in the 70s and 90s.Wildcat92 wrote:We have already played in championship games in both 3a and 4a so we know what to expect. Now executing at this level is another story.I don't expect much of a big challenge until the playoffs though!
Now, to answer the original question, I think Dillon will continue to win state titles. While they are "moving up", so are a lot of the 3A powers like Hartsville, South Pointe, Seneca, Greer, Daniel, and the like who will now be 4A. Those are the schools that Dillon would have a tough time beating on a consistent basis.
I am not sure they will have the same "streak" persay in the new 3A, but they will, without a doubt, be the team to beat.

Yes, you are right that COACHES may have been on big stages but very doubtful that game has any impact on the kids that will suit up next year. None of the kids on this upcoming season's team will play any better or any worse because of what happened in the 90s. In fact, very few of this season's team was actually alive during that game you speak of. These kids have never played a true 4A or 3A schedule, so what Dillon has done in the past doesn't necessarily help them. If anything, it hurts them due to statements like what you mentioned above. The expectations become too high.STChamp 92 wrote:Dillon can handle it... they've been on the big stage against big time opponents. Dillon better watch out, Seneca has got themselves a New High Ranked Head Football Coach, with a lot years of experience, this could be a major game changer come playoff time.

Expectations are always high at Dillon..3A won't be any different.FootballFan4343 wrote:Yes, you are right that COACHES may have been on big stages but very doubtful that game has any impact on the kids that will suit up next year.
