Question since Region 3 basically moves to region 2 and makes the it an 8 team region how many will make the playoffs now

I haven't seen anything official, and no one has ever accused the SCHSL of being good at math or logic,....

But I think this would make sense:
5A-1 5 of 8
5A-2 5 of 8
5A-3 3 of 5
5A-4 3 of 5
5A-5 4 of 6
5A-6 4 of 6
5A-7 3 of 5
5A-8 3 of 5
2 at-large teams which would face the top seeds from the two Columbia area regions.

However, to avoid a state-wide point system and the invevitable upstate whining,.... I suspect they'll go with something like...
5A-1 6 of 8
5A-2 6 of 8
5A-3 3 of 5
5A-4 3 of 5
5A-5 4 of 6
5A-6 4 of 6
5A-7 3 of 5
5A-8 3 of 5
...the two lowest seeds from Regions 1 & 2 could travel and face the champions from the Columbia area regions. One more low seeded team would have to go into the lower state bracket, it would make the most sense to slot them against the Region 5 runner-up.

I've started working on the maps.

Below is a link to 5A. I have used the goofy lower state region numbers from their last proposal. I will change them if the HSL reorders them in the final version. I believe the odd numbering resulted when a successful appeal split a 10-team midlands region into two, in the subsequent proposal they labelled the resulting new region "8", rather than renumbering regions.
