Looking at this website there are some schools that haven't played since the 50's and up to the 60's like the Bell Dare Devils lol what a name i wish somebody could kind of tell what happened to some of these schools. I find it interesting some of the names of the schools and some of the mascots and then look at the page and they haven't played for ever just curious as to what may have happened to the schools

Just from a small amount of research, Bells was a High School in Ruffin, SC. (Colleton County).
Their last year of football was 1971.
I found a link to a 1958 Bells High School Yearbook. Pretty Cool.

"The Crossroads"

Football team is on page 60.
I'm guessing this school was later consolidated into Walterboro High?

I just wonder how many of these high schools were black high schools back in the day before the 60's and the civil rights movement and the integration process

Bells High School wasn't an African-American school.racincowboy02 wrote:I just wonder how many of these high schools were black high schools back in the day before the 60's and the civil rights movement and the integration process
But there are several schools with familiar names on a list that was posted by Dave Pickren.
Dave lists many of the African-American schools from the early 1950's.

He even notes that 1969 was the last year before full integration of the SCHSL.

Did you guys read James Randall Black's quote?
