I was on that team as a freshman. lost to westside 21-20 in the regular season but we came back and beat them In the playoffs 14-7 in route to a state title beating Conway 14-7. defense was off the chain that year. Dang man smh.I can't believe Greenwood going out like this........ Might not even make the playoffs.eagle93 wrote:And another loss. Smh. A team Greenwood hasn't loss to since 2006.

Weight lifting starts in January so we need to have the new coach in by 2nd semester. I'd hate for him to get fired right before Christmas so it needs to be done after we lose in the playoffs. Just do it quickly. That way he can have the appropriate time to find something else and we can begin our search. Abbeville Coach! I actually think Dan Pippin is a good coach. If people are saying that he is not, then they are saying that his success at North Augusta was due to the talent at North Augusta, which would further mean that maybe...just maybe that Greenwood may be on a dry run of great talent right now. Heck even Byrnes had a 3 win season not too long ago. Look at Spartanburg this year. We went through this in Sumter in 2010-2012. Sometimes it’s a combination of both. Maybe Pippin is not the right fit. But just be mindful...coaches don’t miss tackles, miss blocking assignments, throw interceptions, or drop passes. Players have to take some of the blame here. I don’t mind calling out Sumter’s players if they don’t play well. But tradition never dies. Greenwood is going to be just fine.
And sometimes, a school has to fork up the money for a great coach. We pay Mark Barnes over $90,000 just to coach football...no AD or teaching responsibilities.

We know what we have in Greenwood and we know what's going on. There is no lack of talent, most of them have left to play at Emerald, the Raptors, or just won't play at all. They don't like the coach. They've said it over and over. But even with that there is no excuse for these last 2 losses. You can guess the plays as they come. Fork out the money? He makes over 100k. No one knows what's in Greenwood better than the folks from Greenwood.bbrown1240 wrote:I actually think Dan Pippin is a good coach. Re: Westside at Greenwood
Greenwood produce talent every year. Talent is not the issue in this town. I guarantee, if you hire a coach like Nickles or Porter Greenwood would be back winning championships. Those type coaches know how to relate to all the kids and retain them each year.
Nickles and Porter are only examples of good coaches.
