Summerville 43 - Fort D 42 FINAL!

Wow, what an incredible game for the Region VIII championship! Summerville fell behind 25-0 to the Patriots by early in the 2nd quarter. Summerville was able to score 2 late half TDs for the 25-14 halftime score. FD takes the opening kick of the 2nd half and marches it right down the field but a short FG is blocked. Summerville on their next drive score a TD on 4th and 6 to #11 Hopkins to tighten the score to 25-22 FD. Summerville then converts another 4th down for the go ahead score to make it 29-25 Summerville. Summerville then kicks off to FD who returns the kick 95 yards for the score making it 32-29 FD with 5 minutes left in the game. Summerville looked like they were going to punch one in for the go ahead score but Forts D forced a 34 yard FG which Summerville makes to tie it at 32 with 2:12 to play. Fort drives the length of the field down to the 7 yard line and attempt the game winning FG with 7 seconds to play. A fumbled hold led to Summerville recovering the ball sending the game to OT. In the 1st OT Summerville was forced to attempt a FG making it 35-32 Wave. FD ties it up at 35 after failing to score a game winning TD. In the 2nd OT FD goes on 4th down from the 2 yard line and punch it in with the QB keeper. The extra point makes if 42-35 FD. Summerville scores on the 1st play with a QB keeper as well to make it 42-41. Summerville calls a timeout and then come out and go for 2 and the win. They run a reverse. WIth the receivers carrying out the reverse, Bennett slides into the corner of the endzone. The RB then makes the pass to Bennett for the game winning 2 point conversion. Final 43-42 Summerville!

I am completely hoarse after watching a miraculous comeback in what looked like a game early on that was going to be completely dominated by FD. Thankfully, Summerville kept their composure and rebounded for the win.

Good luck to both teams as they represent Region VIII in the playoffs. Summerville's path as Region champs is 2 home games if they win the 1st one, a likely trip to Berkeley in the quarters and then with a win a likely visit by the DF-FD winner assuming the high seeds win out. Fort Ds path will be one home game, a trip to the Region VI champ in the 2nd round(Myrtle Beach area) and with a win a likely trip to Dutch Fork, and then back to the Lowcountry to play at Berkeley or Summerville assuming seeds hold.

This is the play that cost fort the game in regulation. If we woulda fell on it may have got a time out and redid the kick.more or less how Berkley lost to us.7.7 seconds left.
