1st off this game should have been moved up , missable and cold as hell . Tried to move it to 3:30 or 6:00 but gaffneys staff wouldn’t have any part of it . Gaffney played a tough game . Byrnes Def only gave up 3 points , but the rebel offense made to Hugh mistakes giving the Indians a pick 6 and a blocked punt returned to the 2 yard line . Once again after a hot start the rebel offense regresses to a JV team and allows the Indian Def to dominate them . 16-9 at half , at halftime I don’t know what the coaches said in the locker room but the second half was a totally different team , offensive playing calling was 10 times better and the defense took over the game . Rebels defense gave up a late score to make it a one score game but the offense put together a huge drive to put it out of reach . All in all it was a very ugly game for both teams , and given the bad blood between the two teams both kept it clean and respectful. Also the high school league needs to get a handle on these horrible officiating crews, it was bad both ways. Bad spots , terrible clock handling and good awful missed holding calls ,missed Fumbles. You name it it happened . It’s so hard to watch a game with these ass clowns cAlling these games . A lot of respect goes to gaffney and I can’t believe I’m saying that but this game it was earned . Can Any of the board vets tell me when was the last time Byrnes beat Gaffney twice in the same season??? Go Rebels !!

Yes, it should have been moved up, but it wasn't missable, I wouldn't have missed it because it was a big game.

Overall, not bad considering he was still thawing out and using his frozen fingers on a cell phone....

But he is right, the game should have been played earlier so I didn't have to take these old bones out in that cold rain {and possibly some sleet mixed in there as well}. We both knew it wasn't going to be easy, for either team because there were two great defenses out there last night. Both teams came ready to play and left it all on the field. I questioned some play calls last night as it seemed we would get something going, then seem to change direction. Byrnes defense played great as two of the Indian TD's came on a pick six and a blocked punt that ended up at the 2 yard line. Holding Gaffney to likely the lowest total offensive total all year.

If you had told me back in early August that the Rebels would play T L Hanna this year, I would have expected it to be in round one or round two of the playoffs, not the Upper State Championship. I expect the defense will have to be even better next week and the offense MUCH better if we are going to stay in the game with those Jackets.

Congratulations to both teams last night. Even with the bad weather, it was worth sitting out there for that game. Before the game, he made my pick a score and I went with 28-24 Rebels.... not too far off.
