Re: Greenwood
I 110% agree with eagle 93 on this. Pippin has had d1 talents at QB, WR, and RB on the same team the same year and could only get to the 3rd round. Then all these losses to teams we haven't lost to in nearly a decade?? Come on man. 50 something to nothing loss in the first round of the playoffs last year. At what point is enough enough?

Re: Greenwood
I mean I'll be the first to say I never liked Pippin as the Greenwood coach from the start but once we started losing to Laurens, Westside, and Easley I was done in 2015. He's had an appropriate amount of time to gain consistency. Consistency we haven't seen. Last region title belongs to Cathcart. Fix THAT at least. Been damn near 7 years! That's an embarrassment to our standard. Maybe we have different standards now......

Everyone has to be on the same page. We all want to win. Pippin hasn't been getting it done to the Greenwood standard no doubt but as Eagle 93 said Pippin does his thing his way. If we don't have an athletic QB who can run and pass we won't be any good in his system. That's just the way it is. If we should be upset at anyone it should be at the board for hiring the wrong person. But let's be honest, we all wanted Pippin over Nichales when we had the choice. The Abbeville coach didn't have the resume then that he has now. Be mad at administration not the coach. Pippin's just doing what he's always done. No excuse but it is what it is
I agree with most the stuff here. For me I'd rather the qb be a ball distributor. I'd rather him not be where his ability to run is the primary weapon, but rather for cases when the pocket burst and he has to go. I'd rather them be a ball distributor who uses all the weapons around him. We should have strong backs and pretty good receivers to get the ball to. QB shouldn't have to take all of the beating. That's dangerous. But that's my opinion and I'm not the coach. I still say we need to develop QBs early so they're ready when they arrive. I will add, I have nothing against the coach. I think he's a great person. I just want Greenwood to succeed like most. As people in general we have to be open for change no matter who we are. We aren't perfect. None of us.

Last region title and state title was in 2k12 with Cathcart. Time for Pippin to cash in this year. He's got an athletic QB and a good defense. No excuses. Greenwood ain't a place to be soft. Our character is hard nosed. We starting to lose that. We need to get it back this year. Let's go!eagle93 wrote:GwoodEagle2k1 wrote:Guys listen, I completely agree with most of what is being said but seriously....we can't afford to have all of this negativity before the season even starts. Re: 4 Coaches Left Greenwood Football Recently
Seems like to me we need to worry about trying to beat Hanna, Westside, and the Lauren's of the world. All these teams we haven't lost to in a decade before Dan Pippin........ Then he comes along and everyone storms the field as the streaks end. Other than Hanna, none of these teams have gotten any better. I look on the field and see today the same ole Easley, Westside, and Laurens as when I played. We need to raise our standards back.eagle93 wrote:Same, of course. We've never really avoided competition. Spartanburg and Dorman have always been schools we competed against annually. At one time Byrnes and Gaffney were consistently in the mix. We normally beat those teams like Hanna, Westside, Laurens and Easley when our confidence level was high.EmeraldCityEagle98 wrote:Seems like to me we need to worry about trying to beat Hanna, Westside, and the Lauren's of the world. Whenever we are competitive with Gaffney, Northwestern, South Pointe, Dorman and etc....we normally have no problem with the teams in our region.
