Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
The Lucas Boys moved over to Wheatland Missouri and the Lucas Oil Speedway for the 13th annual Diamond Nationals and it was 2 very exciting shows. Saturday night saw Scott Bloomquist who has just recently come back from a horrible motorcycle accident down at Daytona at Bike week catch the fast time award and win heat number 1. Heat 2 saw some pretty good action as well with local hot shoe Jake Neal stealing a heat race win from the national touring drivers. Heat 3 saw Earl Pearson Jr get the win and to round out the heat races in heat 4 the win went to another Midwest regional driver in Tony Jackson Jr.
After heat races were complete the Lucas show went into 2 B main races and were only the top top 3 would transfer and have to start deep in the field. B main number 1 saw Shannon Babb, Terry Phillips, Gavin Landers all transfer in. Next up was B main number 2 and the top 3 were Shanon Buckingham, Tim McCreadie, Tyler Erb.
So now that the field was set the A main feature is on the track and it saw the pole sitter Scott Bloomquist take the lead coming out of turn 2 on the first lap and lead the first 10 circuits around the track until The Newport Nightmare Jimmy Owens stuck his nose under Bloomquist and got by him out of turn 3 and that is how it would be until The Hurricane Earl Pearson Jr would get under Owens and steal a couple of laps but Owens wasn't done yet and these two would battle side by side for the next 12 laps until Owens finally got around EPJ and pulled away to make it back to back wins for the 2 time Lucas oil champ.

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
Sunday night the Lucas boys were back on the track at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland Missouri and it was time for the final night of the Diamond nationals and the night didn't disappoint. Qualifying started the night off and Jonathon Davenport took the fast time honors and would start on the pole of heat won where he went on to dominate and secure his spot in the main event. Heat 2 would go to The Voo Doo Child Scott Bloomquist in another dominating heat race win. Heat 3 would go to T Mac Tim McCreadie and the 4th and final heat race of the evening would belong to The Moweaqua Missile Shannon Babb. So with the heat races completed the front row would be Superman Jonathon Davenport and TMac Tim McCreadie. McCreadie would get the lead going into turn 1 and would hold the lead until lap 11 when Superman would come flying by on the high side and never look back as he would go on to win the Diamond Nationals finale and extend the points lead back to above the 200 points he had
Sunday night Cherokee speedway hosted the Ray Cooke Southern Nationals series for the 1st time in 5 or 6 years and the night would be filled with craziness all night long. There had to have been a full moon cause it was definitely a race or fight kind of night with several on track incidents and some words exchanged in victory lane and also in the pits after the races would conclude. The night saw a young hot shoe with super late model pedigree running through his veins. Trent Ivey of Union South Carolina and the son of the living legend The Headknocker Petey Ivey would go on to claim his 3rd victory in a super late model and his 1st ever Southern Nationals victory. If you haven't been to a race track at all this year you are missing out Im telling you the local guys and gals are putting on some pretty good shows and its only goin to get better as the year goes on and starts to wind down toward the end of October to the middle of November depending on what track you may go to.

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
This past weekend saw the stars of both the Lucas Oil Tour and the World of Outlaws meet in Nebraska at the I-80 Speedway for the Silver Dollar Nationals this past weekend and the racing was hot and fast and saw 5 lead changes with the South Carolina native Chris Smokey Madden leading the show twice once in the middle stages and then again as the laps where winding down. He would lead until about 15 to go and that's when Bobby Pierce would take the lead back and would have to worry about Madden as Madden was there ut just couldn't get back by him and Pierce would take the checkers and the 53,000 win

Oh boy the big money races are in full swing now. It all started with the Silver Dollar Nationals last weekend and will role on into this weekend with the PRAIRIE DIRT CLASSIC at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury Illinois. The Lucas oil series is off for the next 2 weeks as it is the World of Outlaws time to host what they call a crown jewel race. The World of Outlaws will be back to action Weds night July 24th at Davenport Speedway in Davenport Iowa for a regular points racing night and then head to Fairbury this week for the PDC with a top prize of 30K up for grabs. After leaving the PDC the World of Outlaws will head to Wisconsin for 2 nights of regular points racing at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth Wisconsin on Monday July 29th and then head over to the Shawano Speedway | Shawano, WI for the Sun Drop Classic on Tuesday July 30th. After those 2 nights they will head to Cedar Lakes Wisconsin to the Cedar Lakes Speedway for the USA Nationals and the top prize up for grabs there will be 50K to win starting Thursday August 1st and going to Saturday August 3rd. After the USA Nationals all the top teams will move on to Florence Kentucky and the Florence Speedway on August 8th and 9th for the North\South 100 where on Friday night they will battle for 10K to win and then the big show will commence on Saturday for a whopping 50K to win.

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
World of Outlaws were in action tonight at the Davenport Speedway in Davenport Iowa and it saw an invader pull of a perfect night. Jimmy Owens from the Lucas Oil Series stayed in the Midwest and captured the 10K win tonight. The Newport Nightmare took fast time honors and went onto win heat 1 and start on the pole of the main event. Heat 2 saw the Winfield Warrior Mike Marlar take the win and the final heat race of the evening went to Brian Birkhofer. There wasn't a B main tonight as there were only 25 late models that were signed in which means everyone would transfer to the main event. The main event would see Owens jump out to the lead and then relinquish it to Darrell Lanigan for a short while then Marlar would charge to the front and take the lead and lead about 15 laps until he goes up in smoke and has to end his night early with a blown motor. On the restart Owens would take the lead back over from Brandon Sheppard and would never look back as he got out to a 2 second lead and never look back stealing a win from the WOO regulars building momentum for this weekend as they head to Fairbury and the PDC

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
Oh boy this weekend the entire dirt late model world's eye were set on Fairbury Illinois and the Fairbury American Legion Speedway for the Prairie Dirt Classic. The format for this event is a little bit different than most of the normal races around the country. The format for this event is Friday night there was hot laps, qualifying, and 4 heat races that they called showdown races that would lock in the top 2 from each race into Saturday nights A Main event for a chance to win 30K.
Hot laps started about 6:30 PM CST and then they moved into the qualifying portion of the evening with Brandon Sheppard taking fast time honors with a 13.112 in group A and that would be fast time of the event. Mike Marlar would take fast time in group B with a 13.267. After qualifying had concluded it was time to move into heat race action to set the field for Saturday nights A Main event. Heat 1 saw Brandon Sheppard take the lead from the initial green flag start and never looked back and pocketed a cool 2500 dollars. Along with Sheppard transferring was Dennis Erb Jr.
Heat 2 saw Bobby Pierce lead all 25 laps on the cushion and get himself locked in for the feature on Saturday night and also collect 2500 dollars in doing so. Devin Moran would also get himself locked into the big show on Saturday night. Heat 3 would see Mount Holly North Carolina driver Chris Fergy Ferguson claim the 2500 dollars and lock himself into the feature but not after battling with Mike Marlar and Brian Shirley the entire race. Mike Marlar would grab the lead on the initial start and would lead until the caution flag flew with 7 to go and then Brian Shirley would go into turn 1 in 3rd place and take the lead in turn 1 as he put a slide job on Marlar as Marlar crossed Shirley over Ferguson would go to the inside and make it a 3 wide battle going down the back stretch and going into turn 3 where the battle would intensify and Ferguson looked like he was shot out of a cannon and would claim the lead for good at the flag stand and increase over the next 2 laps to win the race and lock himself into the feature.
Heat 4 would see the Georgia Bulldog Shane Clanton claim the win and the 2500 dollars but that would take a good bit of work as he started the race 6th and by lap 9 he was up to 3rd and he did it all on the high side. Lap 9 saw the caution flag fall and that would give Clanton a chance to chose the top side and that would be all he needed to take the win

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
Saturday night Fairbury American Legion Speedway Prairie Dirt Classic 30K on the line and its about to get hotter than a fire cracker on the 4th of July. Ok so to start the night off there were 3 last chance qualifier races that took the top 2 from each of the races to tag the tail of the field. LCQ 1 had Ashton Winger and Darrell Lanigan transfer LCQ 2 had Chase Junghans and The New Deal Hudson Oneal transfer LCQ 3 saw The Newport Nightmare Jimmy Owens and Jay Morris take the final transfer spots. The field is set for the PDC and the 30K feature is set to roll on the track but first there was some rain followed by some track work and then it was time for the A main to roll onto the track.
The initial start saw Brandon Sheppard jump out to the lead over Bobby Pierce and take off on the high side scraping the wall with right rear and pounding the cushion for the first 26 laps until the leaders would encounter lap traffic. Sheppard would get held up in lap traffic and allow Pierce to close and make the pass on lap 26 and Pierce would pound the cushion until the final lap going into the turn 3 Sheppard would make a daring move with a slide job that would make Pierce get up on the throttle and the 2 would make contact coming out of 4 coming to the checkered flag the contact was just enough to give Sheppard the win and the 30K and would allow the Winfield Warrior Mike Marlar to steal 2nd from Pierce. The next stop for the World of Outlaws would be Monday night at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth Wisconsin.

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
Monday night Plymouth Wisconsin Plymouth Speedway is now the destination for the World of Outlaws and whats on tap now is a regular points night for the series. Hot laps started the night off to get the cars warmed up and ready to battle and also let the drivers get their first taste of the track and see how the track is going to be. After hot laps the series lined up for qualifying and watched as points leader Brandon Sheppard would capture overall fast time and sit on the pole for one of 4 heat races.
Heat races are up next and the top 4 drivers from each heat race will transfer into the main event. Heat 1 saw Tyler Breuning win followed by Chase Junghans, Dennis Erb Jr and Mitch McGrath. Heat 2 would see Darrell Lanigan get the win followed by Ricky Weiss, Brent Larson, and Justin Reid. Heat 3 winner would be Brandon Sheppard, Shane Clanton, Jimmy Mars, Taylor Scheffler. Heat 4 would find Boom Briggs take the checkered flag followed by Brian Shirley, Cade Dillard and Nick Avelink.
The last chance qualifiers would take the top 3 from each of the 2 LCQ races to tag the rear of the field. LCQ number 1 would see Donny Schatz from sprint car fame take the win and show that he is starting to get the hang of the late models and force a little muscle since he doesn't get to race with the late model crowd to often. Donny Schatz is a 15 time World of Outlaws sprint car series champion and one of the best in the country in the sprint car ranks. Schatz takes the checkers followed by Justin Schmidt and Justin Richie. The 2nd LCQ would see Terry Casey get the win followed by Jason Feger and Brad Mueller.
The main event would see Brandon Sheppard take the lead on lap 2 and never look back claiming his 15th World of Outlaws series win on the year. Darrell Lanigan and Boom Briggs would start on the front row and Lanigan powered by Briggs on the initial start but Sheppard who started 4th in the show would use the high side and get by both Briggs and Lanigan to take the lead and never look back.

Re: ITs Racing Season WooHoo
The World of Outlaws rolled into Shawano Speedway for another points race. The night started off with hot laps to get the cars ready for battle and to get the drivers ready for another track. Qualifying was up next and The Georgia Bulldog Shane Clanton would take the top spot with a 19.329 second lap. Heat races would be up next and they would take everybody would transfer because the field of cars was only 33 late models.
Heat 1 saw Shane Clanton the win followed by Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Weiss, Darrell Lanigan, Donny Schatz, Justin Reid, Blake Spencer, and Troy Springborn.
Heat 2 would see Boom Briggs get the win followed by Cade Dillard, Brent Larson, Terry Casey, Brett Swedberg, Kyle Raddant, Chris Engels.
Heat 3 the win would go to Chase Junghans followed by Dennis Erb Jr, The Ice Man Jimmy Mars, A J Diemel, Nick Avelink, Paul Parker, and Derek Janike.
After the heat races were complete it was looking like The Georgia Bulldog Shane Clanton was looking to have the perfect night as he had already captured the pole award by setting fast time and won heat number 1. The invert would see him start 4th in the feature and that would be a tough place to start. When I say looking for a perfect night its like a pitcher that throws a perfect game. The feat is rare to accomplish especially on the national touring series cause the competition is so much better than on the regional or even the local ranks. Shane Clanton started 4th and by the time they came out of 4 on the 2nd lap he was in the lead and had checked out on the rest of the competition. Clanton would catch lap traffic at about lap 15 and the battle would get interesting as Brandon Sheppard would come up to 2nd and make a hard push for the lead several times but Clanton would use the lap traffic to his advantage and take the win.
