MOST MEMORABLE GAMES IS SCHSL HISTORY
What game that you were at in person, was the most memorable game that you ever saw? For me, it is easy. I saw the 1997 4A Big 16 State Championship Game between Northwestern and Gaffney in Columbia with Derek Ross and Kentrell Jones as the respective QBs and DBs for their teams. Back and forth, up and down the field. 2 kids that could flat out make a play out of nowhere. Best game that I have ever seen.
The "Godfather" didn't whine like The "Slobfather" is doing, when he got INDICTED!!!!!

1. Straight Herrons final game @ South Point last years 2nd round of 4A playoffs. 50-49 Triple OT....QB for Daniel...Venables...went for 2 on QB draw and got it in....MAYBE!!!!
Video probably shows otherwise.
2. Bluffton @ Hartsville 3rd round 2010 3A playoffs.....40-35 Final Bluffton. Back and forth entire game. Hartsville drives and scores with 52 seconds left in game to go up 35-33. Bluffton fumbles pooch kick but recovered.
2nd play a 50 yard gain to Hville 30...but wait...flag for illegal motion...
...next play another 50 pass play that sets up a 30 yes over the middle short pass with a game winning BLOCK ( ever hear of that) by WR that sets RB free to dive at pylon with 12 secs left to win 40-35. WHEW!!!

I think it was 1991. State Championship at Willy B. Lancaster and Union. I think Union ended up winning. Lancaster had a kid named Tracy McGriff. He could do it all. I'm not a fan of either team, but what an amazing game.

Yes an Incredible game. It was 1990.cavaliereagle wrote:I think it was 1991. State Championship at Willy B. Lancaster and Union. I think Union ended up winning. Lancaster had a kid named Tracy McGriff. He could do it all. I'm not a fan of either team, but what an amazing game.
Union was loaded, Kevin Addis QB, Anthony Hunter RB, and Monty Means WR.
Lancaster had McGriff. Tailback and D-End, I think he also kicked off.
(as cavaliereagle stated, he could do it all.)
If memory serves... I think it was 7 to 7 at the half.
Second Half had tons of fireworks.
McGriff threw a HB pass back to the QB for an 80 yard score.
Union immediately answered with an 80 yard run by Anthony Hunter.
Lancaster got the ball in it's own territory with under a minute to play trailing Union 27-20.
McGriff lined up at tailback and went in motion to line up wide left.
EVERYBODY in the stadium knew where the ball was going!
Bruins QB threw the ball around 20 yards downfield.
McGriff caught the ball between 2 defenders. Stiff armed one and rumbled for the 70 or 80 yard score.
I thought the Lancaster side of the stadium might collapse.
Lancaster failed on the 2-pt attempt.
Union won 27-26.

In recent memory...
the Dutch Fork at Byrnes playoff game in 2013.
Matt Colburn ran wild for the Silver Foxes as they stunned the Rebels 31-21.
This game could be viewed as the springboard for Dutch Fork. (Having won 4 of the last 6 state titles beginning with that season)

Re: MOST MEMORABLE GAMES IS SCHSL HISTORY
Where do I start with most memorable games there have been a bunch with the Indians. 1997 state title game was amazing the atmosphere and the game were electric to say the least and I won't go into details as Penguin has already cover it. Lets go 1993 state title game at the dreaded Death Valley as that is exactly what it is when Gaffney goes to play. 1993 state title game was memorable cause it was cold and rained the entire game we lost on a safety as the punter kicks the ball out of the back of the end zone in the first half. Who would've thought that would have been the end of the scoring with those 2 teams. Man I don't know which game to go to next cause there was some championship games that had it all and then there are some playoff games that were amazing as well. I will go with this one for sure Gaffney vs Spartanburg Old Reservation winner moves on to the state title game Gaffney is down with seconds left and the Spartanburg QB tries to sneak the ball and fumbles and Gaffney scores to move on and the funny part about that game was the fans were leaving the stadium when he fumbled and they all rushed back into the stadium as the crowd erupted
