I love Greenwood to death but I got to be real too. Greenwood will have trouble with Woodmont, TL Hanna, Westside and Laurens.bbrown1240 wrote:If this is indeed the case...Greenwood may be looking at a 2.5 hour road trip in the first round. Avoid that 4th seed.Greenwood97 wrote:By what I seen tonight, Greenwood couldn't beat Greenville or BHP in a full game.
Greenwood should finish the regular season no worse than 8-2 if they win the games their supposed to win. One game at a time. Go 1-0 next week.

Pippin better get that passing game fix before region start because those teams (Woodmont, TL Hanna, Westside and Laurens) will shut down the run read option.

Re: Greenwood 43 Aiken 6 Final
Greg Porter came out with different looks offensively.
1. Wildcat Formation
2. Pro set
3. Single Set Back
4. Pistol
5. Jumbo Package in the redzone and goalline
6. Spread - 5 Wide
7. I could be missing something too.
He had BHP confused on defense.

Actually it's the same read option. It'll work against Aiken and other teams that can't match your athletes currently. But teams with equal talent know exactly where you're going, they load the line up for the run and just blow it up. It's hard to block extra rushers consistently. They never drop back in coverage because they know you are no threat to pass. There were 11 total pass attempts. If you're the opposing defense and you know you match up athletically, what would you do? Probably crowd the line and dare them to beat you passing. Right?EmeraldCityEagle98 wrote:The play calling was actually pretty good. I don't understand it. He won't do this against good teams but he gives Aiken schools his best effort. Woodmont will be geared up for Greenwood from last year's game. They will focus on stopping the read option. Greenwood needs to get the passing game going or we in trouble.eagle93 wrote:Actually it's the same read option. It'll work against Aiken and other teams that can't match your athletes currently. It's the same read option but against gaffney there were no screens, play fakes or misdirection. Pippin did this against Aiken but won't do it against good teams which I don't understand. As for the passing, the RPO is not a passing offense. It's Run first pass to keep you honest. In order for it to work you have to run the ball different ways out of it.... Not just up the middle like against gaffney which is why they crowded the line. Pippin wasn't diverse against gaffney for some reason. This is what i don't geteagle93 wrote:Actually it's the same read option. It'll work against Aiken and other teams that can't match your athletes currently. You have to pass more than 11 times. You're in the spread. Greenwood isn't the only team that runs this. Look at the other teams pass percentages. Closer to balanced. You aren't beating the big boys by running 99.9 percent run plays from the spread. They'll eventually figure it out and blow it up. Which is what happens. Just look at the games. Not the lesser opponents, but the better teams. They'll figure you out.EmeraldCityEagle98 wrote:It's the same read option but against gaffney there were no screens, play fakes or misdirection. Re: Greenwood 43 Aiken 6 Final
I agree 100 percent you have to pass more but the qb and wrs have to do better on the completion percentage. The starting qb for Greenwood was 5-10. That won't get it done either and might have something to with why he doesn't throw more. Plus, in order to get the pass plays you have to be diverse in the run game which is my point. He wasn't against Gaffney but was against Aiken. That's the part I don't understand. We are a spread team but running spread not passing spread. I'd rather be passing spread but that's not what Pippin does. So if we're going to be a running team we don't need to be spread team which is why we need to get the Abbeville coach.eagle93 wrote:You have to pass more than 11 times. You're in the spread. Re: Greenwood 43 Aiken 6 Final
I'm going out on a limb here and saying that maybe Pippin saw something on film that made him game plan the way he did against Gaffney. Gaffney saw things on film and they attacked that and maybe Pippin just didn't make the right adjustments in the Gaffney game going back and looking at the film saw where he messed up and made adjustments going into the Aiken game

We run the same thing every game. Read option. So, no.racincowboy02 wrote:I'm going out on a limb here and saying that maybe Pippin saw something on film that made him game plan the way he did against Gaffney.
