Couldn't agree more. To add, we really need someone who is serious about the weight room. The weight room overcomes most obstacles on the football fieldOnion Rings wrote:get someone who can call plays and has a good plan on offense (kinda like the rams, saints, Packers have), but also has good control over everything top to bottom

Would Victor Floyd from Chester interest any of you?

Man, I hate to see storied programs suffering through cycles of mediocrity. And Coach Dula sure made Greenwood a storied program. Gaffney is just now coming out of a decade of lackluster results. When those programs thrive, the entire state is better off. They bring loyal fans back to the bleachers and create a sense of pride for their communities. Being from Beaufort, I can only say that we have never had very much prosperity to long for. That is another key issue with those high profile programs; winning is not enough, Championships are expected. I hope that the Eagles can dip into the hat and find the magic cure. Sometimes when you make that dip, you have to get rid of the bruised and ugly ones to find the right piece. Best of luck to the Eagles, and know that there are plenty of us out there who would die for what you guys have had over the recent past. Chins up, help is on the way.

Nickles should be their top target. He'd bring Tony Temple back to Greenwood with him as well (or Temple may take over in Abbeville, ya never know)...eagle93 wrote:He has ties to Greenwood and was an assistant coach there. I think the Greenwood folks need to drive down to Abbeville. Offer him whatever Greenwood can offer and get him to take control of that program. Not sure he would come as he has life pretty good down the road. But he would be the first one I talked to.

Porter? After winning a bit of a fluky championship at Hillcrest, spent years applying for every decent opening in the state. Never got hired. No doubt promised the folks at Greenville that he could cut dislodge Greer as the power broker in that region as he was desperate to get out of Hillcrest as the talent pool will be lessened by a new high school. And per usual in Greenville County, they take the path of least resistance with a HC hire. We will see how that goes. Am sure Porter will apply, but don't see that being a fit at Greenwood at all.eagle93 wrote:He has ties to Greenwood and was an assistant coach there. At least he is creative and energetic with killer mentality. He took a school that has no football tradition and won it all. Beat some very good teams. A winner in my book. The kids respond well to him. His Hillcrest championship wasn't fluky. That team was good.Deputy wrote:Porter? Jet Turner also has a championship at Clover and you can see Woodmont getting better. Pushed us around the yard like we were nothing.

Greg Porter and Jet Turner would be good candidates for the job. They are proven.

They won titles. You can't take that away from them.Greenwood97 wrote:Greg Porter and Jet Turner would be good candidates for the job. They are proven.

I would love to have Greg Porter or Gene Cathcart.
