The man was successful at non traditional football schools. He is very creative offensively. His overall record proves he can coach. We darn sure haven't faired well against him, and we have football tradition.Deputy wrote:You are impressed with Porter. I'm not. We can agree to disagree.

no way G'Wood can pay what Clover pays, but agree, Lane can coach and so can Porter. If Porter is in Greenville still, I'm sure G'Wood can top his pay
I think Lane makes over 100k just to coach in Clover. I was skeptical of Lane's hire but he has done the job admirably. Can't remember Clover being this excited for football since Jet Turner was there. Not comparing the 2 coaches, just saying, for fan and community excitement it's been a while over there

The Greenwood coach and the Emerald coach both make over 100k. Greenwood is a storied program. They put big money into football.Onion Rings wrote:no way G'Wood can pay what Clover pays, but agree, Lane can coach and so can Porter. If Porter is in Greenville still, I'm sure G'Wood can top his pay

Brian Lane - Coach Lane is winning at Clover (6-0) this year. I've talked to some Byrnes folks and Byrnes was just down those years in talent.
He learned from his mistakes at Byrnes, it seems. We were not "just down" but the coaches lost control of the team. Lack of leadership and too focused on being their "friends" instead of being coaches. I don't know how he would do at Gaffney with the fan base, but they can and have done worse.

Yeah, Byrnes was not down those years in talent. It was a lack of coaching and leadership from the top. Byrnes has those things again now and look what is happening. Clover shouldn’t be test till the playoffs, then we will see if he has learn from his mistakes in the past.

I guess we will find out Friday night when Dorman comes to town. According to you, if Byrnes is really back...they should beat Dorman convincingly.ByrnesRebels05 wrote:Rebel-Fan-74 wrote:StateChampsGHS wrote:

Where do you see that? All we said was that Coach Lane didn't provide leadership like we were used to and that we do have leadership now. We are 8 point underdogs and hope to play better than the DOODLES projection and hand Dorman a loss. But no where did either of us make ANY comments about beating Dorman at all, let alone convincingly. We play in the toughest Region in the state. Region II AAAAA is used to being represented in the final four, and has recently had all four of the final four teams in the bracket. We know that there are not many easy games in our Region.StateChampsGHS wrote:I guess we will find out Friday night when Dorman comes to town. Re: bobby bently to gaffney?
Maybe providing a qb at auburn and at usc got him the jobs.pure speculation ofcourse .with out being able to bring a serviceable qb with him maybe the job opportunities dry up.im not sure about auburns record why he was there.but usc annually sucks.if its subpar or not up to those schools standards .you really have nothing to offer another program other than your success at byrnes.im sure coach miller had a little to do with that. I wouldnt think it out of the relm of possibilty of a return to highschool coaching.FootballFan4343 wrote:Just stop with this nonsense. He is not going to leave South Carolina for a High School job. He would coach Byrnes again Or Dorman(maybe), he wouldn't go to Gaffney for a million dollars.
The only way he goes to a High School job is if he is fired.
