I research and track national high school football coaching records as a hobby and have been doing this for 10+ years. I have over 370 coaches in my database.
While I have always tracked overall records, I am adding season-by-season won/loss/tied records to my data – currently have season by season for 350 coaches.
MaxPrep’s uses my research.
I am cleaning up my records and reviewing all sources in preparation for hopefully publishing all of my research on a website. I reference all sources.
Trying to verify John McKissick’s records and reconcile my sources and numbers. Please see the attached and let me know of any changes.
I have attached my season by season research based on various sources - I am hoping the high school will respond soon.
I believe there is at least one forfeit that I have heard about that may impact this - not sure what year tho.
If anyone has verified information that can help me I would appreciate it.

Re: John McKissick Coaching Record
Beating up on High School kids using college kids is hardly something to be proud of.

Everywhere else In the state, you have to pass to play. Kids could be no older than 18 as Seniors. At S'Ville, a kid couldn't get on the field unless they were 19 or 20. Some of them had wives and children. "College aged" men playing against High School aged boys. The real question should be why did he EVER lose a game?Fortfor5 wrote:What college were they enrolled in?Penguin wrote:Beating up on High School kids using college kids is hardly something to be proud of.

All legal by the rule of law .havent seen anything on the highschool league site to determine 18 as the maximum age .it wouldbe a statewide rule.now as for grades fake classes and such im surprised that would bother you.Penguin wrote:Everywhere else In the state, you have to pass to play. Your admitting to the cheating does not make that cheating less egregious. Perhaps you should apply for a job as Mango Mussolini's press secretary. You sound remarkably like his acting chief of staff. Open mouth, insert foot all the way to the knee.

So let’s say I didn’t graduate from Dorman...only went to the 11th grade and dropped out. Does this no age rule mean I could come back at age 47 and play as a high school senior for Dorman? I remember there was an episode of King Of The Hill where Bill came back and played for Arlen High to regain his rushing TDs record since he dropped out to join the Army as a teen...
Re: John McKissick Coaching Record
The SCHSL rules were changed because of EXACTLY what I am posting about. They called it High School Redshirting. It was the brainchild of the cheaters that ran the Summerville Football program. After an initial rule change allowing kids just 4 years of High School eligibility, those same cheaters decided to circumvent the rule by holding kids back in elementary and middle school. Of course, the parents had to agree to sign off on this. It is now no longer allowed. But good ole dook for brains graduated from there, and cannot stand to have the truth about his idol talked about in public. A coach with a record of winning games with college aged players playing against high school kids.
