Aynor had one drive of 80 yards and it took 18 plays. If that crowd can play mistake free football then they have a chance of going all the way. I know that sounds weird to say about Aynor but they have the team to do it. There best defense was keeping Dillon's offense off the field.1 CAT FAN wrote:Aynor grabs control of region with history-making victory over Dillon

The Blue Jackets knocked off perennial state powerhouse Dillon on Friday night with a 38-30 victory that ended the Wildcats’ 52-game winning streak in region play. In the process, Allen’s team grabbed control of Region VI-3A,
Aynor’s offense dominated, ultimately owning the time of possession for 37 minutes and 1 second of the 48-minute contest.
[Jackie Hayes said] “It’s hard to play against that for four quarters. Think about it: They never jumped offsides, didn’t have a motion penalty, no bad snaps. They about played a perfect game.”
Proving how rare this type of win has been, it was the first time Aynor had won a game in this series since the two teams became region opponents in 2006. And according to the web site SCFootballHistory.com, it was the Blue Jackets’ first win over Dillon since 1950.

Thanks for providing that, it's a well written article, very complimentary to both teams. I'm thinking it's likely Dillon will get another chance at Aynor in the lower state championship game.

Re: Dillon versus Aynor
Dillon's offense is as strong as ever....defense is not as "nasty" in past years, due to a lot of sophomores starting....with that being said I strongly feel that Dillon can make it back to the state championship, but I do not know if the defense can contain a Chapman or a Camden.
Re: Dillon versus Aynor
What are the chances of Aynor beating Dillon again in the playoffs and becoming the lower state champs? If they are as good as what Dillon fans are saying, why are they not talked about a little more as far as being a state championship contender? Honestly before this win over Dillon I had not heard one thing about this team. I am a upper state fan having went to Chapman but up here we only keep track of how Dillon is playing and probably couldn't name 5 lower state 3A teams if asked. Just hoping someone who knows more about lower state teams can shed some light on this for me. Thanks.

Chapman is definitely playing strong right now. That would be a good game.5-0fourlife wrote:Dillon's offense is as strong as ever....defense is not as "nasty" in past years, due to a lot of sophomores starting....with that being said I strongly feel that Dillon can make it back to the state championship, but I do not know if the defense can contain a Chapman or a Camden.

Re: Dillon versus Aynor
If the 2 teams meet again, I don’t see Aynor winning. I know they won this time, but give Jackie Hayes a rematch and it won’t go well for Aynor. They will make some defensive changes and get it figured out.Huck2284 wrote:What are the chances of Aynor beating Dillon again in the playoffs and becoming the lower state champs? Chapman's path to the state championship will be more difficult than Dillon's, due to Camden, Union County, and Chester in the path of Chapman.Colbyc36 wrote:Chapman is definitely playing strong right now. I don't see Union posing a threat to Chapman. Camden is a different story.

A side note dillons offense is pretty good, defense is just young5-0fourlife wrote:Chapman's path to the state championship will be more difficult than Dillon's, due to Camden, Union County, and Chester in the path of Chapman.Colbyc36 wrote:Chapman is definitely playing strong right now. Re: Dillon versus Aynor
Dillon struggled with 1-7 Marlboro County, won 25-14, if it wasn't for a few Marlboro penalty's Dillon may have lost that game too. The Cheraw game is not a given either, Marlboro gave them a tussle too, lost 14-10.
Myrtle Beach simply didn't allow Marlboro to hang around, won 56-6.
Unfortunately, Dillon has more problems than just the defense, kicking and special teams have been unreliable.
The coaches have their work cut out for them, hope they can get it turned around.
