Crescent
Wow- so Crescent ran the winningest coach in HISTORY to make a mockery of football!!!!!! I am tired of watching this CRAP they put on the field. A blind man can see that the spread and Crescent NEVER go together! I hope the towns of Starr and Iva are proud of what you have allowed to happen to your football team!

Re: Crescent
I mean, its not like Crescent was a powerhouse before. Other than a few 8-9 win seasons, and the 22-4 they combined to go in 89-90, they are an average program. 9 winning seasons in the last 29 years, and in 4 of those they lost 5 games.
Re: Crescent
Average is a stretch. Crescent is a bad football program. They could do a lot better.

Re: Crescent
I was trying to be nice by saying average. Could they be better? I guess they could get to a level where they could be a playoff team every year and maybe a region contender now and then, but I don't ever see them being able to compete with the better teams in the upper state.*Topcat* wrote:Average is a stretch. Re: Crescent
I agree that the best coach in school history was allowed to leave. He averaged 7 wins a year at that place. Crescent isn’t a football school and never will be. Murdock knew how to let the kids balance #farmlife and football. That’s why he never had to cancel a JV season. He never also had the same financial resources that have been flowing the last 2 years. They were wearing 6 year old jerseys his last season. Maybe they realize money can’t buy you wins.
Re: Crescent
They lost a lot from last years program, no secret on what is the main sport at CHS but I think they will improve but not looking like any time soon
Sad thing is the numbers they have out there, if I am correct they did not have enough to field a JV team this year .
Not sure what the real issue is, great folks down there and they are getting ready to spend a lot of money on the football stadium but end of day SOFTBALL RULES.

If they lose to West Oak- WOW!
Why have they allowed an average program to become cow manure? I know agriculture is huge, but for pete's sake- do not make compost from the football team!

Re: Crescent
Teams go through cycles, some up some down. Newberry took a step back the last 2 season, from 2011-2017 they were 69-24, last year they went 5-6 and are 5-4 this year. 5 seasons of at least 10 wins and the worst season being an 8 win season, down to 10-10 last season and this season. We in Newberry aren't in panic mode or think that the program is falling apart, its just a cycle we are in. Most programs have cycles like this, its just bound to happen. Even more so in districts and schools where transferring between schools doesn't happen like it does in others.MrFootball68 wrote:If they lose to West Oak- WOW!

Re: Crescent
Abbeville had back to back losing seasons in 2013-2014...probably for first time since the 80s. Followed by 4 straight titles and in the hunt for 5...with a nice winning streak in progress. It can happen...the down years. For any team.
