Agreed. Particularly true in 1A and 2A, those schools just don't have the budget for it.coachp wrote:Be hard to believe that statewide the rule would be no HC/AD. I can see if by individual school districts but not statewide.

Re: Coaching carousel
Most if not all School Districts already have the rule that states once you become a Principal (i.e. Administrator) you can no longer coach. Athletic Directors are not considered Administrators last time I check unless the Districts are changing the job description to bust up the $100,000 jobs that no longer teach.

Most large schools have split the jobs. I can only think of a handful of schools in Lex 1 and 2 that still have it combined

Dutch Fork is combined but we all know Knotts doesn't do any AD duties.

And Dutch Fork is also the most successful team by far on this list.footballknowitall wrote:Most large schools have split the jobs. I can only think of a handful of schools in Lex 1 and 2 that still have it combined

Re: Coaching carousel
When Dutch Fork called me to interview for an opening they had, Knotts called me personally on his cell phone so I think he does do AD duties. This was for the head wrestling job/oline coach, which I hate I couldn't end up interviewing for because my job at the time wouldn't let me leave during the day. I guess that's why I no longer teach at that school either.footballknowitall wrote:Most large schools have split the jobs. Do this experiment for me then, call Dutch Fork and ask to speak to the AD. I guarantee you they will put you in touch with Mack Harvey. He is the athletic trainer/Asst Ad and he handles almost all of the AD duties.

Re: Coaching carousel
Why would I do that? I can just call the head man directly or shoot him a text.footballknowitall wrote:Do this experiment for me then, call Dutch Fork and ask to speak to the AD. Re: Coaching carousel
Will this apply to all AD/Head coach combinations because there are AD's in this state that are head coaches of other sports such as Baseball, Basketball, Softball etc?

Re: Coaching carousel
I don't think this will be a state wide rule. There is no way a lot of districts could afford to pay a separate AD on top of all the coaching positions.trapperj61 wrote:Will this apply to all AD/Head coach combinations because there are AD's in this state that are head coaches of other sports such as Baseball, Basketball, Softball etc?

Socastee is open. They have an interim coach and just announced they are opening up the job.
