I think he played 2 quarters for jv and
2 for varsity.the rules say a player can only
play 4 quarters a week but it has to
be for jv or varsity.not split between the 2.

The situation was a little different. In the case of Goose Creek, they used a player who was not qualified. He was in his 5th year of school, so was ineligible. He suited up for every game that season as an ineligible player. Plus, I believe he participated in 5 games for Goose Creek that season, meaning they would have had to forfeit all of those games and they were no longer eligible for playoffs.

In the case of Oceanside, the player in question is qualified, he just played in both a JV and Varsity game. So therefore Oceanside will have to forfeit that game.

So, the situations are pretty different.

The reason why shouldnt matter ineligible is ineligible.rules were violated .if the next game is a playoff game then they should be out.if not then game forfiet as you stated.
Need to do away with that bullcrap rule anyway.

I heard some radio shows saying that the HSL will be looking to see if that player played in any other games after also playing JV that week. It could come down to if this was a one time deal or if it happened multiple times also.

Is Northwestern getting hit with a fine or loss of scrimmages next season? Had parents asking me the last two games. Players filming practice at Clover days before playing them.
Is that not illegal...any insight footballfan4343. Parents were upset that nothing was done to the players and allowed to play after Clover officials have them on film.

I understand your opinion on the matter, but that isn't the rules.
The Goose Creek player from years ago was ineligible to participate based on SCHSL rules. Basically, it was the same as if you or I suited up. We are too old. The rule for this is the team used a player INELIGIBLE for the season. If this happens, a team is disqualified from postseason play.
In the case of the Oceanside player, he was and IS an eligible player, he just played in both a JV and varsity game. The rule, for that violation, is forfeiture of any games he participated in. If that is enough to make Oceanside NOT make the playoffs, then they won't make the playoffs.

I don't know specifics on this, but from a legal standpoint, I would find it hard to believe that the school could be tied to this. 16 and 17 year old kids using cell phones to record is really tough to connect to a coordinated event from the coaching staff or school.
So, knowing that, I don't see any way that Northwestern would be responsible.
