Here is my proposal....based on last years ending numbers....of course...this is using grades 9-12....was hard to do with 40 teams ...so went with 42
still hard to balance...but was only done in a few minutes. Would like to keep 5A at 40 or less, but hard to do. Going to work with 32 teams tomorrow

Re: Realignment Talk
If you read my original note, I am using the previous 135 day admission numbers and here they are:Damefan wrote:The only problems I see off the bat are Boiling Springs is no where near the student count close to being on this group.
1 Wando High School 4,365
2 Dorman High School 3,344
3 Summerville High School 3,012
4 Carolina Forest High School 2,425
5 Byrnes High School 2,368

23 Spartanburg High School 1,913
24 Northwestern High School 1,904
I don't really understand this portion of your post, I"m guessing it has something to do with the list you were looking at, which is not what the SCHSL looks at.Damefan wrote:Hanna, Woodmont, Mann, Easley, Wade Hampton, Westside, Riverside alone are larger in population. Going down the list on the net I still hadn't gotten to Spring Valley and Lexington, and Lugoff are bigger. In your count for #4 West Ashley is dwarfed by Stratford, Cane Bay, Colleton, and James Island.
Carolina Forrest not being part was the BIG ISSUE I mentioned in my first post.Damefan wrote:Carolina Forest which is listed as being the 4th largest school behind Wando, Summerville and Dorman isn't even list!

Re: Realignment Talk
Only change I would make to bring it down to 40 would be take Berkeley and Spring Valley out. Berkeley originally was in AAAA and petitioned to be in AAAAA to avoid traveling for all their games in the last alignment.Do_It_Right!!!!! wrote:Here is my proposal....based on last years ending numbers....of course...this is using grades 9-12....was hard to do with 40 teams ...so went with 42

Re: Realignment Talk
That makes perfect sense....I agree and like the region assignments you put forth. Berkeley needs to go down to 4A. That would make the proposed Region 6 5A at 10 teams compared to 8 team regions in the others. You could rotate 2 teams as non region games to equal it out in that region. It is a tough call to make; but, your region assignments based on attendance and geographic / travel issues works out well......Damefan wrote:Only change I would make to bring it down to 40 would be take Berkeley and Spring Valley out. Re: Realignment Talk
Looks good, but I highly doubt Nation Ford and Fort Mill will be 5A as Catawba Ridge opened and took about 600 kids(and counting as they add a senior class) from each school. Could be a good 4A region with South Pointe, York, NaFo, Fort Mill, Catawba Ridge, Lancaster and possibly Indian Land.Do_It_Right!!!!! wrote:Here is my proposal....based on last years ending numbers....of course...this is using grades 9-12....was hard to do with 40 teams ...so went with 42

Re: Realignment Talk
Nation Ford and Fort Mill will stay 5A
South Pointe could actually move to 5A since they are only counting ADM from 9th-11th. The STEM program is bringing South Pointe numbers up.

Re: Realignment Talk
Opinions on what to do with private/charter schools? Options that could possibly be implemented include
1. Nothing
2. Multiplier (Would make most charter/privates at least AAA)
3. Competitive balance (Increase classification only for certain sports, for example, if you are good at Football you get bumped up for that sport only)
4. Separate playoffs (in this scenario, private/charter and public can be in the same regions but will be separated in postseason, Georgia does this for 1A sports)
5. Separate conference all together
1. Nothing

Re: Realignment Talk
FM only lost a little over 200 total students to both NF and CR. FM is an embarrassment now. They can’t even filed a 9th grade team with over 2000 students. Both NF and FM remain 5A. Gaffney will petition to get out of Region 3 because of travel.
Re: Realignment Talk
Make them play in their own completely different classification. I have nothing against the charter type schools. Buy being able to market only going to actual school for half a day is very attractive to teenagers and that can give them an edge with some kids that can unbalance things.AHS14 wrote:Opinions on what to do with private/charter schools?
