This was proven last week as Seneca got trucked by Chesnee in Seneca. Just one of those years where that region would be hard pressed to have a team make the playoffs in a lot of regions.
Newberry/Chapman....Could be close. The way Newberry plays, and their size, give Chapman more trouble than anything. Strickland has been slowing the game down and wearing on another team for years. But Chapman is excellent. Likes to strike early. If Newberry can hang around into 2nd qtr you might have a ball game on your hands. Just not sure if Newberry can stop their QB and passing game.
I don't see the Woodruff/Pendleton game being close either, but I think it will be the best out of what is there. As for as Newberry goes, its going to depend on what defense shows up. Between Kentrell Caldwell, Josh Stewart, and Rae Wilmore, I think they had 10+ sacks last week, I think KJ Gary added 3 more. Chapman is a different animal than Chester, but if those 4 can get some pressure, maybe we won't give up the big plays. I think we are going to use Wilmore a lot on offense, 6'2, 235 lbs, runs a 4.5. The best defense Friday night might be giving him the ball about 40 times and see what he can do.

That's a great quotable line!

5A Upper State: Gaffney at Sumter. Most years Sumter posts a good regular season record, but they first time they play a good team in the playoffs they can't win. Byrnes went down there last year and beat them by 10. I expect Gaffney to do the same.

5A Lower State: I think River Bluff at Carolina Forest has the potential to be a good game. River Bluff has a good team, and played Dutch Fork closer than anybody else in South Carolina has. Still not sure how they lost to White Knoll.

4A Upper State: Westwood at Daniel might be interesting, Westwood had not given up more than 22 points an a game until last week, but the competition level is different with Daniel. Daniel has had some close games, so they are tested.

4A Lower State: Ridge View at AC Flora will be good. Flora has gotten decent at football, and have a win over Union County this year. Ridge View has 4 losses, Daniel and South Pointe beat them as expected, but then they lost by 2 to Northwestern and got shut out by Blythewood.

Wilson at Brookland-Cayce might also be a good game in the lower state.

3A Upper State: Woodruff at Pendleton may be the best game out of what should be an easy week for the higher seeds. Pendleton lost to Clinton earlier this season by 6, and Woodruff beat Clinton by 10, so maybe they will match up well and have a good game.

(I hope Newberry has something for Chapman, but I don't think it will happen. My Bulldogs have been inconsistent all season, so who knows which Newberry team shows up)

3A Lower State: May River at Aynor should be good. Aynor has shown this year that they have a good team. You don't win that region with Dillon in it, it doesn't happen. May River has won some games, but have they played the competition Aynor has?

2A Upper State: St Joseph's at Gray Collegiate is an interesting match up to me. Gray can score, but they also can give up a lot of points (62 to Gilbert, 68 to White Knoll). St. Joseph's only loss is to a very good Southside Christian team.

2A Lower State: Bamberg-Erhardt at Timberland may be the best option. I expect Timberland to win, but after that play Bamberg-Erhardt pulled off to beat Mullins last week, I'm not counting them out until the clock hits 0.

1A Upper State: Not seeing anything, but I'm happy for Whitmire. Region champs and getting to host a playoff game is huge for them, only problem is they had week 10 off and then a bye last week. Now they host a team that beat them 68-28 in the regular season.

1A Lower State: Lake View at Branchville might be the best option. I don't know enough about 1A football to say.
Hmmm....
I haven't read your whole thread. Had to comment though. 10 is not an impressive point spread for Byrnes against Sumter, but Byrnes wasn't as good as they are this year. Gaffney on the other hand seems to have slipped from last years team.

I watched Byrnes play the Cavs (on the byrnes side with Byrnes fans) and the Rebels look scary this year.

I don't know if they can beat the Silver Foxes....I've seen better Byrnes teams get handled by Knotts. But! This is a damn good Rebel squad. Like B1 told me.....special teams decides games in close ones because they have an abysmal kicking game. He told me early in the Byrnes game that special teams would decide the outcome. He could not have been more correct. The only thing that kept the game from going to overtime was a very early missed PAT. Of course some Rebel fans will say it was the refs except Chris had already predicted their kicked would win or lose the game for them so he can't reneg on his prediction.

Laurens.........calling Laurens...........the donutz are give you zero respect. I say that Laurens ends all of this burnz-gaffney and burnz-Dorman crap tomorrow night. Laurens didn't fall out of the sky into a number 1 seed. They earned it. The Waffle House will be full of sad sacks tomorrow night about 10 or 10:30.

I call bullsh*t.

I saw Byrnes play. We've all heard the chatter about Fort D and Dutch Fork. No way Laurens takes the Rebels. And I'm not being an upstate homer. I've seen Gaffney and Spartanburg play. Geez...Dorman set a record for the most points we've beaten them by and Gaffney was a mosquito.

Rebels take Laurens no problem. Rebels kicking game is the worst I think I've ever seen but their D and O are really good. I beat the Vikes by 49....we beat the Rebs by 2.

If Laurens knocks out the Rebs, then the Cavs will have their work cut out for them. I will give you credit there.

Please keep under estimating Gaffney please do because what yall have forgotten to mention is that when we played both Dorman and Byrnes our best defensive players were out with injuries. Littlejohn and Ellis were both out and not playing against both teams but yes please keep looking over us and we will hopefully see yall next week at Nixon but we gotta get by Sumter and that undefeated Gamecock team first

They have done a great job at Lauren's in getting that football program back to playing good football. But playing in Region 2 and playing in Region 1 are two completely different animals. Just think if both teams play their normal game that Byrnes has a little too much for Lauren's to handle.

Byrnes isnt overlooking anyone, including Laurens. This isnt the Byrnes of old just yet, but the Rebs are getting closer. Rebs are going to Laurens tonight to take care of business period. This team is close to putting Byrnes back on that level again. They are going to make a statement tonight.

I didn't say it was impressive, just stating facts. Byrnes won by 10 last year at Sumter round 2.

Rebs were down 16 at the half and didnt allow a point in the second half. That Sumter team was 11-0.
