Greenwood High School hired Michael Hudson as the school’s new athletic director. Hudson stated that the football coach listing won’t be posted for a few more weeks. Hudson furthers stated with the South Carolina High School League realignment approaching in the spring, he knows Greenwood could be in very different positions depending on whether it stays in Class 5A or moves down to Class 4A. Hudson said, Greenwood is currently the smallest Class 5A school in the state, which puts it at a distinct disadvantage in terms of challenging for state championships. Sounds like he realizes to win they may need to go to AAAA.

Greenwood Hires New Athletic Director
Re: Greenwood Hires New Athletic Director
Nope. He didn't say that. You did and the index did. Reread. That's why it isn't in quotes. I talk to Hudson. He believes like I do. The culture has to be put back the way it was. The culture that doesn't drop games to Easley etc. No disrespect to Easley. Everyone that believes that narrative aren't apart of Greenwood's tradition. We want to stay in 5A and prove we can compete and not be at the bottom.Damefan wrote:Greenwood High School hired Michael Hudson as the school’s new athletic director. He speaks specifically of being able to connect with the kids. Not a select few that you're comfortable with, all of them. Some really good athletes currently not even playing for Greenwood that are in Greenwood.

Hudson quoted, “The good thing is the numbers are out of our control, as far as how many students we have on that 45th day,” Hudson said. “There’s lots of rumors swirling around, but what we know is wherever we land, we got to have the mindset of ‘Let’s go.’ Let’s do this together and try to put our very best effort each and every single time that we practice, meet and compete.”

Pippin did not have this determination and mindset since he started at GHS.StateChampsGHS wrote:Hudson quoted, “The good thing is the numbers are out of our control, as far as how many students we have on that 45th day,” Hudson said. “There’s lots of rumors swirling around, but what we know is wherever we land, we got to have the mindset of ‘Let’s go.’ Let’s do this together and try to put our very best effort each and every single time that we practice, meet and compete.”

The Index Journal need to write an article that Pippin just can't coach and beat the big boys of 5A. Pippin just couldn't get it done like Coach Cathcart did.

Well it will be interesting, because if there is any truth to the rumors that ya'll are going back for Cathcart we will see what he can do in round 2.StateChampsGHS wrote:The Index Journal need to write an article that Pippin just can't coach and beat the big boys of 5A. ""According to the Index Journal article,..
“It’s going to be very important for that head coach that we hire to be a kid magnet,” Hudson said. “We need someone who kids are drawn to, that they love to play for and that has a love and knowing for the game. ""
This tells you that Pippin wasn't connecting to all the kids on the team. Now, we will hire someone that will change the culture back.

It isn't just playoffs. No region titles since 2014. Same schools same region. Plays you can guess from the stands. Clock management was very bad. 90 percent run from the spread. Kids not playing that should be playing. Kids leaving to go to other schools. Assistant coaches jumping ship. I hate to say it, but we weren't going to win 4A either like this. Abbeville is 2A and would eat our lunch currently. It's time for change.Damefan wrote:Well it will be interesting, because if there is any truth to the rumors that ya'll are going back for Cathcart we will see what he can do in round 2.StateChampsGHS wrote:The Index Journal need to write an article that Pippin just can't coach and beat the big boys of 5A. Couldn't agree more. We are in really good hands now. Excuse making and mediocrity was left with Pippin on the field at dorman. We'll be back to normal soon depending on how long it takes for the new coach to clean up the 6 six mess Pippin made.eagle93 wrote:It isn't just playoffs. No region titles since 2014.
