Yes, so beating an 0-11 Stall team is worth the same as beating an 11-0 Gaffney.

This is why the points system was done away with. Everybody and their brother was searching for a duck.
I calculated the Point System for years.
Being that Gaffney was a Big 16 school for years and Stall at one time was a 3A school.
This wouldn't have happened.

Now, if you turn it around and had a win over an 0-11 team from the Big 16 vs. a win over a winning 9-1 3A team.
There were issues.
Most of the problems way back when was when getting drilled by a Big 16 team was worth as much as a win over a winning 3A team.

Would have to find some old notes from back in the 1980s. :geek:

Recently it was better than that, but I understand what you are getting at.

Onion Ring you are right with the way it used to be. I just wish instead of saying that the non region games mean nothing make them mean something

Yea where now you have state championship caliber match ups in the 2nd 3rd and semi final rounds. I guess what I'm getting at is how fair is it to Dorman Gaffney and Byrnes to be meeting in the next couple of rounds when these teams should be meeting either in the lower or upper state title games or in Columbia for the state title cause those are the best teams in the state most years and we always have to meet in the playoffs way before we should

racincowboy02 wrote:Good point Penguin but why can't you do it and make it to where the points only count if the team has a winning record at the end of the year or do something to make all the games mean something instead of teams playing ducks all during the non region portion of their schedule for example lets say Gaffney books Blacksburg, Landrum, Broome and some other schools that are beneath, Why not make it to where teams have to schedule good competition for example Gaffney schedule Mallard Creek, Summerville Fort Dorchester and Dutch Fork for non region games if you get where I am goin with it
Because schedules are made before the season starts and nobody REALLY knows who the ducks are or will be. What happens when you wind up with 3 ducks and lose a point and a half before the season ever starts?

I didn't want to say Hillcrest or Mauldin because their programs have came a long way, but they would play annually for the right to say which team won a game. The points system proved to be a lost cause.

Dutch Fork and Fort Dork might disagree with your supposition.......just sayin'. Anyone that doesn't think that Dutch Fork is the class of 5A is lying.

Yea well they may be the class of 5A now but I always think of the class of the field being from Region 2. They are the new kids on the block kind of like what Byrnes did in the most recent history and look at what has happened to them up until recently. Call it what you want but when you play in a sub par region and can beat everybody big then what does it really prove why don't Knotts and those down at DF schedule a better non region schedule. They played Mallard Creek the last 2 years and were rained out last year and got help with the rain this year to end the game tied up and had to call it a tie. I mean if they are supposedly the class of the field you would think they would go on and find some good competition for their non region schedule and don't come at me with the schedules are made before the year starts. Teams know who is good and who ain't good
