This is why the points system was done away with. Everybody and their brother was searching for a duck.
That was not exactly true...

Big 16 winning was 4.5 win and 3.5 losing
4A winning was 4.0 win and 3.0 loss
4A non winning was 3.0 win and 2.0 loss
3A winning was 3.0 win and 2.0 loss
3A non winning was 2.0 win and 1.0 loss

A modified point system that focused more on wins and punished a loss more, could make the non-region games more important and make it worth something. Also, all teams should play the same number of region games even if it means cross schedules between regions. Like the SEC West teams play everyone in the West and 3 games against the east. So if Region 1 plays 7 Region Games, all the other Regions play 7 regions games, even if Region 5 and Region 4 have to cross schedule a game or two per team.

Quickly looking, something like this for points:
5A winning record ......5.0 for win and .....2.5 for loss
5A losing record ........4.0 for win and .....2.0 for loss
4A winning record ......3.0 for win and .....1.5 for loss
4A losing record ........2.0 for win and .....1.0 for loss

No system is perfect and some years, one Region may have three teams fighting for the region title and the next year only one team from that same region has a winning record. You can't predict that nor can you "work around" that possibility. So, give the REGION CHAMPS 3.0 points and the RUNNER UP 1.5 points, but seed everyone based on their points. If you play 11 games, count 9 games and have one less week of playoffs. If you play 10 games, more teams get in the playoffs and you end up with some blow out games in the first round. Maybe instead of 32 teams, you go with 24 teams and give the top seeds a bye week. 2-9 teams should not be in the playoffs.

There are many ideas that deserve some serious contemplation and testing and tweaking. I would love to get a few folks together and exchange ideas, merge thoughts and see what happens. Then after we work out re-alignment, we can take on WORLD PEACE.

You make some very good points 74 now the only other question I have is how in the world can't the SCHSL see this and make something like that work

How do you know who to schedule? How do you know who will have a winning record before any games are ever played? The only fair solution is for every team to play every other team in their class. How else do you prevent unfair advantages to some teams and unfair disadvantages to others?

And you are all forgetting about the original Big 16 concept whereby all 16 of the largest schools played in their own tournament, regardless of wins or losses. And yes, 0-11 teams were playoff teams.....many times.

The answer to this is that there is no fair system that is ideal for everyone. All of this pissing and whining about 3rd and 4th round games means nothing. If you are a championship team, you want to beat the best, not the worst. And further, no, Burns, Dorman, and Gaffney, are not the best teams in 5A. Dutch Fork is until they are beaten by one of those others, unless Clover steps up. So why not stop crying and let the games be played on the field and lets all find out who is best? I could care less who someone "thinks" is the best.

They are the new kids on the block kind of like what Byrnes did in the most recent history and look at what has happened to them up until recently. Call it what you want but when you play in a sub par region and can beat everybody big then what does it really prove why don't Knotts and those down at DF schedule a better non region schedule. They played Mallard Creek the last 2 years and were rained out last year and got help with the rain this year to end the game tied up and had to call it a tie. I mean if they are supposedly the class of the field you would think they would go on and find some good competition for their non region schedule and don't come at me with the schedules are made before the year starts. Teams know who is good and who ain't good
Perhaps Region II needs to secede and play in their own little world, then. There are almost 200 other schools in this state. I am sorry that none of them live up to your standards. You could always do like poor ole' Beaufort and go play one of the top 5 teams in the nation.

Here is the difference Penguin. We in region II do not strive to PLAY one of the top 5 teams in the nation, we strive to BE one of the top 5 teams, so that we can practice on the lil cute Beauforts of the land.

Yea we did that this year with Mallard Creek so what's your point. You want to sit here and talk about what Beaufort did well lets get into that a little more why don't we went what 0-5 in non region play and then played in one of the weakest regions in the state and won it and got a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs actually got a 2nd round home playoff game and then got smacked by good Hartsville team so tell me again how Beaufort would compare to anybody in 5A again. I wish it would go back to the Big 16 days and split it again but that won't happen. Dutch Fork is a flash in the pan and while they are relevant now what makes them relevant after the great Tom Knotts leaves

Beaufort hasn't played the any top 5 school in the nation this year cause yall didn't go to Florida, Cali, or Tx to play and you didn't bring a team from those areas to Beaufort to play either so which team are you referring to as the top 5 team Valdosta and the answer is wrong again.

Here are the links to the high school polls

https://usatodayhss.com/rankings/expert ... ll/2019/13

https://www.maxpreps.com/rankings/footb ... tional.htm

http://www.espn.com/college-sports/high ... id=3012801

so now tell me who yall played that was top 5 in the nation. Please try and tell me that Valdosta and Lowdnes is the same school please cause they are 2 different schools

Hahaha!

I just noticed an odd anomaly! Kind of surprised my eye caught it. Just finished posting about 100 new images in the photo gallery. And while doing it noticed something really strange! Took me all of two seconds to connect the dots....

The intellectual corner posts all average 70 clicks.....

Except "This one's for Pengy"

That has 925 clicks!
