A tip of the hat to Clover

Post by NuclearCav90 »

I never explicitly came out and said it on the board, but I didn’t really give Clover much of a shot against my Cavaliers in my mind. I thought Clover had played a weak schedule and would be beaten by several touchdowns. In short, I didn’t have much internal respect for the Blue Eagles and thought Dorman would roll to a pretty easy win. Boy was I wrong! Clover showed the are one of the state’s best football teams. The game could have easily gone the other way and it could easily be Clover hosting Gaffney next week. So much respect to the Clover Blue Eagles. They definitely earned a lot of respect from me! They might have fallen a bit short in the end but they really proved themselves. What a job Brian Lane has done!

Thanks guys, that means a lot. I knew that Clover had what it takes to compete with the big dogs but no one belived that except us. I hope the momentum carries over to next season.

DITTO from another Dorman supporter.

1: Great atmosphere. Loved the RIC FLAIR WHOO! After the first downs.
2: Best High School game I have been to since I saw Byrnes play St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale many years ago. It reminded me a lot of that game. There would be a great play and you think it can't be topped and BAM another crazy play.
3: Can't believe the QB isn't being recruited by some body(maybe he is I just don't know). He was in total command of that game. Made throws we all just said WOW.
4. Jaylen will make a great deal of noise at MTSU. Probably one of those guys that you will hear from others "why didn't he get more D1 offers" while he is doing well there. We tried putting every DB we had on him and didn't have much success.
5. It was discussed with many Dorman people "if we lose I am coming back to watch these guys play again'.

Good to see Coach Lane doing well. Best of luck next year. It was a great trip and a great game. It is easy to say because we won but I assure the Clover nation if the result was the other way I would feel the same.

I have to admit the same thing. Boy howdy! When we were down by 13 and Newcat is jumping up and down going "I told ya so!" I remember thinking....man I'm glad I didn't set myself up to eat crow. But it's not really our style anyway. In texts with friends I just said, "Have no idea. Heard they had a weak schedule. Ask me at halftime."

Mad respect for your team. I'll wait till I see DF play to say for sure but you guys look like you can hang with anyone this year. Any Clover fans are welcome to come to the U and sit with us....(or the Indians)

Great post about the game. Clovers QB reminds me of a mix between Johnny Manzel and Brett Farve as he was elusive and how many times did he “PITCH” pass to open receivers that were within range.

I agree about best game in along time....I would have paid $20 to watch another Clover game with all that action!! :D
