First-time poster here. I only found this board a few weeks ago. I think 1A will have 8 regions with +/- 50 schools and will look similar to this. The schools with asterisks do not have football teams. 8 regions reduce travel for all sports and makes more sense. It is my belief that the SCHSL will continue to move the charter and private schools up one class. I used the SCDOE 45 ADM 2019 numbers to establish which public schools were in 1A. What do you think about this guess?

Region 1 Dixie, Calhoun Falls, Ware Shoals, McCormick, High Point, Whitmire, SCSDB* (7) Six football schools

Region 2 Lewisville, Great Falls, McBee, Lamar, Timmonsville, SCGMS* (6) Five football schools

Region 3 CA Johnson, Calhoun County, North, Ridge Springs-Monetta, Wagener-Salley, Richland One MC* (6) Five football schools

Region 4 HKT, Denmark Olar, Williston-Elko, Bamberg-Erhardt, Blackville-Hilda (5) Five football schools

Region 5 Scott's Branch, Cross, CE Murray, Bethune-Bowman, Branchville, East Clarendon (6) Six football schools

Region 6 Whale Branch, Allendale Fairfax, Estill, St. Johns, Baptist Hill, Bridges Prep*, Royal Live Oak* (7) Five football schools

Region 7 Green Seas Floyd, Lake View, Carver's Bay, Johnsonville, Hemingway, Hanna Pamplico, Coastal Leadership* (7) Six football schools

Region 8 Miliary Magnet, Charleston Math & Science, Burke, Garrett Tech, Palmetto Scholars*, Low Country Leadership*(6) Four football schools

I really have issues with Northwestern in one Region and Rock Hill in a different one? I don't see that happening...

But, as I am sure you have discovered trying to lay this out, there is no way to do it without making some folks upset. I don't like the Region II in 5A, but liking or not liking is never a concern of the SCHSL. I've put these together and even argued with myself, "You can't put them in that Region?" "Well someone had to go there!"

I'm thinking about entering the transfer portal!

I don't either. So I moved some things around. Brought Chapin and Irmo into 5A where I think they might be and moved Westside down to 4A.

5A- 40 schools
Region 1 (6 schools)- Hillcrest, J L Mann, Mauldin, T L Hanna, Wade Hampton, Woodmont

Region 2 (6 schools)- Boiling Springs, Byrnes, Dorman, Gaffney, Riverside, Spartanburg

Region 3 (5 schools)- Clover, Fort Mill, Nation Ford, Northwestern, Rock Hill

Region 4 "Hybrid" (8 schools)- Blythewood, Chapin, Dutch Fork, Irmo, Lexington, River Bluff, Spring Valley, White Knoll

Region 5 (5 schools)- Carolina Forest, Socastee, St. James, Sumter, West Florence

Region 6 (5 schools)- Berkeley, Cane Bay, Goose Creek, Stratford, Wando

Region 7 (5 schools)- Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester, Stall, Summerville, West Ashley

If Irmo goes 4A and Westside is 5A.

5A - 40 schools
Region 1 (6 schools)- Hillcrest, J L Mann, T L Hanna, Wade Hampton, Westside, Woodmont

Region 2 (6 schools)- Boiling Springs, Byrnes, Dorman, Mauldin, Riverside, Spartanburg

Region 3 (6 schools)- Clover, Fort Mill, Gaffney, Nation Ford, Northwestern, Rock Hill

Region 4 "Hybrid" (7 schools)- Blythewood, Chapin, Dutch Fork, Lexington, River Bluff, Spring Valley, White Knoll

Region 5 (5 schools)- Carolina Forest, Socastee, St. James, Sumter, West Florence

Region 6 (5 schools)- Berkeley, Cane Bay, Goose Creek, Stratford, Wando

Region 7 (5 schools)- Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester, Stall, Summerville, West Ashley

*NOTE* You could swap Riverside and Hillcrest in Regions 1 and 2

Until the HSL releases the final numbers we won't know for sure. Several of us think that Greenwood will be 4A, not so sure about Westside.
