McMahon has full control over the athletic programs and no control over his players. The players run amok, and while lots of blame can go on administration, Mac stays completely out of it. He has to have one of the most undisciplined football programs in the state, on and off the field.
You rarely see the players from his programs do much after school. No discipline means a lack of character and it starts at the top.
I don't know if things were similar under Dan Pippin at Greenwood High, but there is certainly a direct correlation between rise in crime/gang violence and the lack of discipline these young men are getting in school. Athletics could do SO much more in Greenwood, but it appears the ADs (one is thankfully gone) at both high schools have opted to look away.

Abbeville played Emerald the other day in basketball and won by 20, despite it being Abbeville's first game and Emerald's sixth or seventh game. Looks like both football and basketball are in danger of missing the playoffs this school year. Not a good look for a school like Emerald... it is so obvious that change needs to happen there. No Fly Zone wrote:McMahon has full control over the athletic programs and no control over his players. Emerald may not win another game in bball. They are terrible.AHS14 wrote:Abbeville played Emerald the other day in basketball and won by 20, despite it being Abbeville's first game and Emerald's sixth or seventh game. Re: Emerald
If this new alignment is legit, Emerald is going to get absolutely destroyed for the next few years.
Greenwood bumping down to 4A puts them in position to compete for state titles again. EHS will lose talent to Greenwood.

Re: Emerald
Nah. He wasn't like that. Play calling was just too vanilla and used 1 player too much. Easy for 5A defenses to guess where you're going with the ball. Also didn't feel like there was a killer instinct like you had with previous coaches. Good person overall though. Emerald is in worse shape and seems to be sticking to that path with making him AD.No Fly Zone wrote:McMahon has full control over the athletic programs and no control over his players. Re: Emerald
Greenwood can compete and beat Region 1 5A. They did before this administration was there. Different region name but same exact teams. Don't kid yourself. We've been playing less than our standard. I wish they could stay to have a chance to prove it.No Fly Zone wrote:If this new alignment is legit, Emerald is going to get absolutely destroyed for the next few years.

I hate we'll never get the chance to prove this theory wrong. Unfortunately when we had the opportunity to compete in 5a we had arguably the most mediocre head coach in Greenwood history aside from Martin who tried to take the G off the helmets. No Fly Zone wrote:If this new alignment is legit, Emerald is going to get absolutely destroyed for the next few years.

Emerald drew the short straw with this realignment. They are going to get absolutely waxed by everyone except for Clinton.

Re: Emerald
Emerald needs to appeal. No way they should travel to chapman doing the week for sports other than football. Move BR to region 3 and Emerald to region 2. Or Chapman to region 2, BHp to region 3 and Palmetto to region 1. Mac wont appeal. He wants to see the football lose to prove it wasnt his fault.
