I dont know what the problem at Wando is. Hard to have a school that large and be that bad year, after year. NW should be an OK place after they sweep some of the damage done over the last few years out of the door. But even at that, not sure NW, or Rock Hill for that matter, will be a power program anytime soon. South Pointe sucks up all the athletes, and once Legion gets really cranked up they will start pulling select kids from all.

For many of the best athletes in Rock Hill, Legion isn't a viable solution as many parents aren't going to want to send their kids to a school without free/reduced lunch. Legion is doing most damage to area soccer and baseball programs.

He might try to get out of toxic situation at NW and come home to Charleston to coach where his career started.
Please share your evidence of the "toxic situation" as noted above. I think most will agree there were issues last year, but Coach Wofford and the new AD/administration seem to have really changed things in the 9 or so months he has been on the job.
Secondly, as someone who lives here, I can tell you Northwestern is set-up MUCH better to succeed than Wando. Northwestern has a football tradition, whereas Wando does not. Plus Wando has Oceanside taking their best football players at will. Thus far, the Rock Hill schools have done a solid job in making sure their best players aren't leaving for charter schools.
I am not sure there is anyone on this board (or this state), for that matter, that would argue that Wando is a better job than Northwestern. Even before Oceanside, Wando still couldn't compete at a high level, even with 4,000 students.
I didn't say it was a better job. That's laughable.

But Wofford is from Charleston and Wando is where he started out in coaching. If he wants to come back, he'll have a shot to.
And again, I don't question where he is from. I simply am asking for your evidence on the "toxic situation" at Northwestern as you called it. According to your comment, Wofford potentially leaving for Wando would have more to do than just "come home". You said he could "get out" of a "toxic situation". So what is your evidence of the "toxic situation"?
Northwestern is built on instability right now, no matter what you think. Their HC has one of the shortest leashes in the state.

Parents are running the sports programs at NW.

NoFly,
Its fair to make comments, but please give some reason for your statement. What reason, other than what you THINK, do you have for that comment. You are a fan of Emerald and have no connection, that anyone can tell, to the Northwestern program. So your statement is merely based off of comments from others. Just to clear some things up, the last part of your comment could not be more wrong. Northwestern made this hire in a full "reset mode". The head coach would not have left his previous jobs if he wasn't guaranteed that by people MUCH higher up than the Principal.
Again, please refrain from stating "facts" on situations you have no knowledge of other than the incorrect information read on these boards.

LOL..welcome to High School sports. Parents run the programs everywhere. The ones that succeed are those that manage that well.

THIS! Folks forget about the income bracket for Rock Hill's best athletes versus Mt. Pleasant and Lexington/West Columbia. From my understanding, Legion is pulling from one of the "poorest" parts of Rock Hill in terms of where its campus is being built, versus Oceanside and Gray which pull from Mt. Pleasant and Lexington mainly.
The free/reduced lunch is a big deal, but posters on here ignore basic economics, instead think what works in one area of the state, will work everywhere. Football/basketball will not see major issues, however, as pointed out above, soccer and baseball will see a hit as soon as this season likely.

Wando has a ton of students but look at where those students are coming from.

They will NEVER compete in football.

Maybe so, but its obvious you are grossly underestimating how poor, for the most part, the top football players are.
To your point about Dorchester county, if a parent is able to drive their child over to Mt Pleasant for school/practice/etc, it is unlikely that he/she is at the level that they need free/reduced lunch. In morning traffic, that is easily an hour, one-way trip.
