Beat on your chest and talk like a big boy..................let this monster get loose and you will shut up then............as Dr. Fauci said just this morning.............."We are tempting fate and asking for trouble"..........
Seriously stop using Dr. Fauci as your source. He has flip flopped this whole time. I can pull up multiple quotes on when he said things can and should open back up. Then the next week he is saying the opposite.
With that said, I will ask again. Using your scenario. When do things open back up? Science, throughout history, has shown us that immune systems weaken when we spend our lives in a bubble and don't "test" the immune system with different pathogens. So, lets say we lock it down until....when? When can we get back to some sense of normal life? When?
When there is a vaccine........until then we have to stay away from this monster.........20 new deaths just today............
Ok, thanks for answering. How does our country operate for those next 12 months? We have never had a lockdown more than 2 months. Even the Spanish Flu, we only "locked down" for a month.
Some are now questioning if the lockdowns even really did anything to prevent the deaths.

https://mises.org/wire/do-lockdowns-wor ... ce-says-no

Also, how do we handle the evidence in the uptick of child/spousal abuse? Remember, teachers and guidance counselors are the #1 source way abuse is uncovered. By keeping kids out of school, we aren't able to see the abuse happening. How do we handle a year of at home learning for children? Molly Spearman has noted that almost 50,000 students in South Carolina have not been heard from since they went to e-learning. If parents cannot go to work, how are essential jobs handled? All of this for a disease which clearly does not have major implications for those under the age of 65. In fact, the seasonal flu has a higher death rate on those under 60 than COVID-19.

What worth are you putting into the lives of those that are unable to get medical treatment due to it not being deemed "essential" like cancer screenings or chemotherapy, heart appointments, etc, etc, etc?

At the end of the day, that is what has to (and is currently being) be weighed. On one hand, we can argue that lives are "saved" with a lockdown, although that is currently being debated with evidence of the majority of New York City "positives" coming from those that are staying in "lockdown".

And of course there is the biggest question. Is all of this heartache and death that WILL happen from a lockdown worth it for a 50/50 shot that a vaccine would actually work. ESPECIALLY when only half of the US population would even get the vaccine https://www.cbsnews.com/news/coronaviru ... would-get/

So what happens then? Say the vaccine doesn't work (which has been stated is only a 50/50 shot). Also, what if only 50% get the vaccine? What then?

The point is a lockdown until a potential vaccine will clearly do more harm than good. 38 of the 50 states that have ended lockdowns have seen leveling off or a downturn in positive cases DESPITE increased testing. Time will tell, for sure. But at the end of the day, we can continue to go round and round on this, but it doesn't matter. High School football is happening. Your opinion or mine does not matter.
These are all excellent questions that our government, who we pay taxes like royalty to, should have resolved long before this pandemic ever hit.............in a country like america, we can't sit in the middle of the road and wait on a truck to come and then worry about getting out of the way...........we should be way ahead of any pandemic or other germ issue..........everything, ligistically and finacia;lly should already be in place and if the lockdown does come, everyone knows what to do and what to expect...............a blueprint for EVERYTHING is already in place and citizens just follow the blueprint...........THE BIG QUESTION is are we just as unreday for another disaster, like a power grid attack, terrorist attack, enemy attack or other surprise dangers...........we couldn't have done a worse job than this, and that is the reason for the excellent questions that you asked.........
Your comments above prove everything that has been suspected of you. This is a built in political bias, on your part. The virus is nothing more, to you, than an opportunity to air your grievances with the current political climate. Nothing further you say carries any merit because your built in bias is too strong.
The truth is tough to handle for those who have nothing to stand on...........to me, this virus has exposed just how unready we are for any crisis........that is not political...........

When you test more people the raw numbers go up. That is why most people use percentages when comparing data.

Duwve said on Fridays and Saturdays, it’s typical to see higher case numbers than earlier in the week.

“It may be that more people who aren’t feeling at the end of the week seek testing,” Duwve said.

The COVID-19 death toll reached 483 after 13 more South Carolinians died after contracting the coronavirus.

Eight of the patients who died were elderly, and lived in Berkeley (1); Darlington (1); Fairfield (1); Florence (2); Greenville (1); Horry (1) and Spartanburg (1) counties. Five were middle aged, and were from Florence; Laurens; Lee; Saluda and Williamsburg counties.

No thanks lets get rolling. Ot aint a big scary monster kids in that age range are fairly safe.
Hide if ya scared the rest of us will make the calculated choice.
The chance of danger is very little for the age group.stats dont lie.
We can all get back to work and stuff albiet smartley .we will be fine.
Most of us anyway.

TRUE..........but, the fact remains that the numbers of new cases we are seeing now will HAVE TO COME DOWN significantly before anything to do with schools goes ANYWHERE.........we are averaging about 215 cases a day over the last week.............that has to come way down, with proper testing before we see anything change......its just reality...........

As far as the SCHSL and their response? It was a joke. Not unexpected, but a joke. I doubt anyone expected any true tone of leadership, or guidance, from this feckless organization. I guess it serves a purpose in the clerical world of setting regions, and playoff schedules. But I am not sure what else. When dealing with infraction issues we have all seen that the outcome often seems to depend on the particular school, or coach, that is in question. Supposedly the SCHSL is controlled as an arm of the member schools. Some folks need to ban together and reconfigure the system.

As much as everyone wants to see HS football this year, I just don't think you will. While true that, it is basically just a case of the flu, if that bad, with the age group in question, you have to remember who you are dealing with. First off, unless the congress comes to its senses and makes law that one cannot sue for catching the virus, there is a liability issue. Secondly, administrators are always an overly cautious bunch as evidenced by the many times they have closed schools just at the threat of 1/2 inch of snow that never materializes. Do I think they will try to see if they can play? Sure. But a lot if the people making such decisions are the type that want an iron clad guarantee that they cant get it before they venture out from their bedrooms. And not playing football could cause every other sport to be canceled unless the government uses some of the trillions of dollars they are handing out to subsidize athletics at the HS level. Some schools with financial upward student demographics and well funded booster clubs might could fund other sports, but a lot of the smaller schools, especially the ones in economically depressed areas couldn't. Some have suggested that limiting attendance is the answer, but that doesn't solve the money problem as many schools depend on thar football gate to fund many other sports.
