Wonder How Recruiting will be affected if we don't play

Post by Damefan »

I wonder how recruiting will be affected if we don't play? Will colleges be forced to consider reductions in scholarship numbers? Will the NCAA grant special waivers to those kids like the spring sports kids for an extra year of eligibility thus reducing spots on rosters? What are your thoughts??

Great questions, i don't have a clue what will shake out. The apple cart will be turned upside down for sure.

It will probably depend on what type of player/recruit and what level the school is.

Big time programs have their class of 2021 lists whittled down.

Group of Five, FCS, and Division II have their work cut out for them. These are the schools still identifying prospects.

Prospects for these schools can typically play their way into an offer as a senior.

Another thing to consider, how many smaller schools will/could be forced to drop football as a cost cutting strategy?

It’s all uncharted and will be interesting, if not painful to watch.

It won't. At least not this year. Now if they dont play at all, it will create a bunch of chaos with the class of 22. As far as the class of 21, I'd say everybody down to maybe D2 already knows who they are after. They hay is already in the barn in regards to evaluation on those kids. At the power 5 level it probably was for the 21 class this time last year.

As I said, it may come into play in D2. But levels above that had their targets set long before this virus deal flared up. Yea, you always have a couple of outliers that grow 4 inches and put on 50 lbs that suddenly make them attractive, but those are few and far between. This virus deal will cause much more issues in decisions on the 22 class than the 21
