BEAUFORT IS GETTING ARTIFICIAL TURF!!!!

there are pro and cons to turf and to grass, but in high school turf is the way to go

as some have said, no rain outs, no muddy practices or games, and uniforms don't get ruined. Off topic but these districts ought to do turf outfields for their baseball fields too

No football this year. Beaufort County Schools are already set on remote learning. Football means very little in the middle of a pandemic that affects everyone, not just fans, not just players, not just coaches and support staff. Sorry to tell you, but no football this year. Smarter heads have prevailed.

Penguin, Beaufort and Colleton County Schools haven't fully decided on what they are going to do this upcoming School year. Both Districts sent out Surveys to the Parents to see what is best for their Kids. Beaufort County and Colleton County School Districts did say that they are both probably going to offer both In School and Virtual Classes this School year. I know a majority of the parents of Football Players, other sports, and Cheerleaders that were surveyed want their Kids to participate in Sports this School year. So we shall see what happens. Hopefully things will get better and we will be able to send our Kids to School this year.

What'cha talking about Willis???? Beaufort has been a pretty good Football Team since 2004. Yes My Eagles had a few bad seasons but the Schedule was very tough with those power house Georgia Teams on the Schedule. Plus that Hard Schedule helped Beaufort win the Region 7 4A Title last year. Beaufort will be loaded this year and should have a great year. .

The high caliber program with the speed like Fort D should have had turf long ago. Wando already has it. A shame Stall, Academic Magnet High, Military Magnet Academy and North Charleston High will play on a turf field before Fort D has one!! Their new field looks great!!

Hey Damefan. Most Lowcounty Teams don't have a turf field. I know Wando's New Field looks really good with the Turf. So will that New North Charleston Stadium be ready for this upcoming School Year? Where is it located at?

I agree with you Onion Rings. The Turf Fields cost a lot but it is really worth it in the long run to have one. I am excited to see Beaufort's New Turf Field when it is done.

The stadium looks almost completed and they are finishing the parking lot now. Should be ready by what would have been the start of the season. I live only a couple of miles from it. The entrance is located off Montague. My father in law once owned the property and sold it to the city according to my wife. His business was on that land for many years before relocating out to Cross County Road.

Definitely going to be the "Showplace Of The Lowcountry"! I can already hear the incessant whining from the likes of New Smelly Cat. All of the other Senior High Schools in this county, will always be our little, red-haired, step siblings. Rising up, only to inevitably get swatted back down, put in their place, and reminded that big brother will always be best.

I was thinking that instead of the Eagle Walk to the stadium on game night, what if they put a gate on the South end of the stadium perimeter, and had the Eagles ride a luxury bus from their locker room at the school, around the stadium, and made their run-out through that gate and rubbing the "Eagle" on the pedestal before coming through the South End Zone? Seems like a much grander entrance for the home team. The visitor's locker room is off the North End Zone already. How about using your position to make that suggestion? Might as well change things now while everything is going to be new............

Thanks for the pictures. Looking forward to seeing the new digs. Now we just need some really fast guys to take advantage of a fast surface.
