Amazing album. Got me through some depressing times in my life.

Never forget the feeling that washed over me in this part of the movie.

This would be a movie I think you could remake. Would love to see Peter Jackson’s interpretation!

Oddly enough...

I just realized the connection he now has with The Wall. The album and movie have a lot of TV in the background. Most of what you hear is dialogue from a fantastic WW2 movie called the Dambusters that was one of the band’s favorite movies.

Peter Jackson is supposed to be remaking The Dambusters. Should have been out by now. The story is a true story and inspired this commercial....

Your 3 all time favorite songs.

....

I can’t pick a 3rd.

I dunno...the intro to Fair Warning was always magical...

Gimme 3 I haven’t heard in a while.
Hmm... my music taste is diverse, even like some of Slicks old school stuff.
I have to say the 80's & 90's Rock power ballads are my favorite though, all be it that I like all venues of music. As a kid, teenager, I loved Kiss because they were different, the original members. They opened things up for Rock Bands to express themselves, and many did. I love Rock music with talented electric guitar players, the 80's had many. Some of those Bands are still selling out shows. Journey, Def Leppard, AC/DC, and of course Kiss end of the road tour.
Happy New Year to all! God Bless!
Ok DeCav, here are a few that should kick back some memories.

Surprised this band didn't have many more hits, their guitarist could really bring it.

This band had a powerful combination, great guitar play, extreme lead vocals, not many can hit the high notes like this guy.

The guitarist for this band became a bodybuilder, the band was noticed by Hollywood movie producers and was granted the soundtrack for "A nightmare on Elm Street" the Freddie Krueger horror movies.

A nightmare on Elm Street - "Dream Warriors" Kinda corny by today's standards, but movie viewers flocked to it back in the day.

More to come...Image
All bands I was tangent to but never dove into. Steelheart had crazy good vocals....what an old ex hippie I worked with would be called “Screaming Mimi” vocals. He listed Steve Perry and Boston I think in that category. Queensryche would’ve made that list too. And probably Styx.

Kix just never caught on in America.

Dang! That’s what I’m talking about. James Brown and Pavarotti.

I’ll keep the theme going with opera mashups...

Liquid Tension Experiment plays Gershwin....

George Gershwin literally got tricked into writing that tune. Was asked by a promoter who wanted to stage a jazz meets classical music concert as an experiment. He asked Gershwin if Gershwin was up to the task of blending elements of jazz and classical into a new kind of music.

Gershwin said sure, when’s the show?

The promoter told him it was in a week. Gershwin told him to forget it, it wasn’t enough time to compose something like that.

The next morning George met his brother Ira for breakfast in a diner. ira was reading the paper and mentioned the show Gershwin had agreed to compose a piece for.

George told him he was mistaken, that he’d turned down the offer.

“Not what it says in the paper...”, Ira said as he showed George the announcement.

The promoter lied to the newspaper and told the reporter Gershwin had agreed. After what was probably how I imagine Yosemite Sam might have reacted, Gershwin rushed home and started writing.

The piece was so rough when it came time to perform there was a note in the sheet music where he instructs the band to just repeat certain phrases while he improvised something. The performance wasn’t recorded and the world literally will never know what Gershwin originally played that night.

The tune was so well received that Gershwin was forced to clean it up and work out the whole piece as we know it today. It’s now considered the best and most famous American piece of classical music ever written.

Personally I love John Williams probably a bit more but who could blame me?
