Curious if this is what our kids have to look forward to in the coming weeks. Several people have talked about the Georgia and Alabama schools going full speed opening and here is what has happened in one school district in Georgia already, 800 in quarantine, 50 thus far testing positive with results on others to come.

Full Speed Ahead, NOT!!
Re: Full Speed Ahead, NOT!!
I think that a lot of Districts have been waiting to see what happened with those early return Districts. I heard that those NCAA Universities that haven't already cancelled their seasons, are awaiting the fallout of the return of the full student bodies, to campuses. I am actually encouraged by the numbers in our County the past few days. Those areas having full on mask ordinances do seem to be faring better than those without them. This could be some valuable data moving forward. With nearly everyone in agreement that colder weather will bring about renewed surges in cases, it would seem pertinent to try to do all that can be done presently to drive numbers down as far as possible.
The NBA and NFL training camps seem to be handling this very well, whereas MLB is struggling due to lack of control of player movement. Some valuable lessons could be playing out right in front of us if we would just examine it instead of trying to be maskholes. See new ones every day on the Yoo Toob. Have to just shake your head.

Under 1000 cases for a week.
Anything near atlanta will ve high.atlanta has 500k people population density has a huge effect.
Our largest city is charleston.huge differences in population density.
Depends on what the population of that district is also.Damefan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 2:40 pmCurious if this is what our kids have to look forward to in the coming weeks. Our numbers are down.......way down in places with mask ordinances. Be curious as to how schools will enforce those ordinances and what they will do with the little maskholes. The virus isn't going away on it's own, proper hygiene, social distancing, wearing masks, all of those things are driving the downward turn. Remember what happened when the rules were relaxed.

I IM'd my cousin in Germany about it. Mask wearing is now a pavlovian response for their kids. They wear their masks until they reach their desks, the bell rings and masks come off. When the bell rings again the masks go back on, they pick up their stuff and go to their next class. They don't go to the lunchroom, they eat in their classrooms at their desks.

Interesting, especially since GA has already shut down 3 schools in one county and placed over a 1000 plus in quarantine in one week. Looking forward to seeing what Greenville, Charleston, and Richland County look like in a couple of weeks.SF Band dad wrote: ↑Fri Aug 14, 2020 1:57 pmI IM'd my cousin in Germany about it. Jasper County has shut down an entire Elementary School over 3 positive tests from Teachers. Re: Full Speed Ahead, NOT!!
if 1 teacher gets it, you can bet that 5-10 other teachers have to be quarantined, not to mention each teacher teaches 60-90 kids
there are no subs available so have to go remote

My understanding is that the school wasn't open yet, I don't think any children were exposed.Penguin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 12:41 pmJasper County has shut down an entire Elementary School over 3 positive tests from Teachers.
