Coach Tom Butler

“It means more to us because we practiced on this field,” Butler said. “We played in that stadium. We bled in this field. It just feels like we care just a little more. We care more and we think that might build something for the future.”

IF and thats a BIG IF we are back it ain't got nothing to do with being in 4A. It has everything to do with having good leadership at the top and a new coach. A coach that truly understands what it means and takes to be a Greenwood football player. Liner was a greenwood football player along with numerous other new coaches and assistants. Pippin was in 4A at Greenwood and didn't win any region or state titles. Under Pippin we lost to teams we hadn't lost to in 10 years. I'm talking about easley, woodmont, hanna, westside, laurens ect...All these teams we have multiple losses to under Pippin. All these teams are traditional 4A schools like greenwood. So as far as the region is concerned being in 4a or 5a has nothing to due with it. As for playing dorman, gaffney or the traditional big 16 or 5a schools we were very competitive. I'm not saying we always won but we were competitive under the previous coaches. Under Pippin we got beat 50 something to nothing by those schools or some other outlandish score. I don't know if were back or not because I've only seen scrimmages and practices. But I know one thing......We aint losing no more games to teams who are below us. That's for sure.

hmm...well I'll say this. The last 2 years under pippin we've been shut out by dorman 52-0 and 35-0. No region titles and haven't gotten out the 1st round of the playoffs. Have scored zero points in the playoffs the past 2 years. This is what the current players are used to. Liner has to change the programs attitude and confidence back to what it was before pippin. I hope u right but there's a lot of work to be done. Can't just show up in 4a expecting to win. These boyz gotta go out and prove it on the field. the region is a good place to start. eastside greenville greer are pretty good teams. I hope u right tho.

First game for Liner will be personal. Hopefully his players understand what a win against Laurens will mean to their coaches - Liner brought a few with him. I think he’s a motivator.

To be honest I am kind of excited to see what Coach Liner will do now that he is "home" and at a place where he knows what its like to play on that field in front of that passionate fan base.

Now lets talk some football and talk about the match up you guys are looking forward to this year especially since yall moved down to 4A and are in a completely new region. I think the match ups that have my interest are the Greenville vs Greenwood and the Greer vs Greenwood match up those will be very interesting match ups

We'll beat laurens. Eastside, Greer, and Greenville are all toss ups in my opinion.

Pretty well-written article, if you ask me. Hearing the guy that wrote it is pretty darn good at his job but that may have just been a rumor
