Emerald at Clinton

This one could really go either way.

Emerald should have one of the better defensive lines in 3A, but they are suspect everywhere else. Wouldn't be shocked to see their sophomore tailback make a name for himself this season.

Like most early games, this will probably be a sloppy one - lots of penalties and turnovers.

Clinton QB is hurt so they will bring in a backup. Kimon Quarles will be the one to watch for Clinton.

Never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm picking Emerald in this one.

Interesting. Clinton really improved as the year went on last year under their new coach. Emerald? Will have to see what the new coach can do in bringing something to the table down there. Last couple of years, Emerald has had as much talent as anybody in 3A football. But they sure didn't play like it.
