8 Quarter Rule hurt the coach's abilities to develop players and give the experience needed as much as anything. For the record, I am also not a big Dutch Fork or Tom Knotts fan, but I do respect him for his coaching abilities like I do other successful coaches. You take from them the good things and evaluate the bad. Tom at least does play teams outside of his area when the opportunity presents itself. He too had IMG Academy scheduled originally this year. He has played teams in Texas and NC that were powerhouses. Imagine if Fort would go play Valdosta, Lowndes, or Grayson in Georgia! Fort went and played lesser teams from Georgia and Florida, go play SOMEBODY!! Knotts lost in Texas but he wasn't afraid to test the competition. The only games that matter are the Region games, Playoff games, and the State Championship!!fdgrad00 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:41 amDutch fork do far worse. When our games get out of hand the backups come in and play. Here is my thing about it all. The backups want to come in and score too. They work just as hard. Also me personally i want to still run my offense when the backups are in so in case a starter goes down or not performing the backup would be ready to go. Next man up. And i agree we need to play better teams. The cross bracketing with region 7 we gain nothing. I would keep goose creek and Berkeley and drop wando. But it is what it is. Before this pandemic we actually had dorman and myrtle beach on the schedule. We cant help our region not as tough. This team this year is way different the mentality is different. Its similar to our 2015 team. But again like i said above, Dutch fork do way worse. Tom knotts dont care. His thing is stop me. If not. It aint his issue.

Great post. Beaufort is reaping the benefits of going to Valdosta 2 years in a row, playing Wayne County 2 years in a row, and playing Effingham County 2 years in a row. We split with Effingham and Wayne County, while getting handled easily by Valdosta 2 years running. The Eagles managed to go undefeated in the Region last year, and are running roughshod over it this season. A team most definitely gets better by playing better competition. As a top level team in the state, FD should definitely try to add some tough out of state teams. They would only get better for doing it.Damefan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 17, 2020 10:56 am8 Quarter Rule hurt the coach's abilities to develop players and give the experience needed as much as anything. I agree. These gentleman agreement with region 7 suck. We all wanna play top teams. We gain nothing playing wando. I think we were trying to one year but it was scheduling conflicts. Laprad do need to schedule tough OOS comp i agree. I think budget maybe an issue as we dont get support from DD2. IN DD2 its all about Summerville. We have now a great booster club thats doing great things so maybe we can get some OOS COMP. Well when this pandemic calm down. Would love to play armwood, Lowndes, maryville ( just because its near Knoxville where my son live)
