Daniel vs Wren Upperstate
Daniel vs Wren Upperstate
I have been to almost every Daniel football game since I was born in 1997. I think I have only missed 3 games, and my dad has only missed 5 in 50 years. I have seen teams coached by Sitterle, Coach Rob, and Fru. In all honesty, Daniel should have won about 4-5 state championships under Coach Rob, especially in the Deandre Hopkins era. However, this 2020 team has a different sense of urgency I have never seen in the Daniel program. They are commanding games from the first snap til the final snap of each game. They seem to have more heart this year in the way they play. I honestly had some doubt this year in how well they would perform, and I would have never predicted them to play for state or even be the #1 offense in the entire state! I’m hoping the Lions can bring home the trophy this weekend and make their mark in a rich football history!
Re: Daniel vs Wren Upperstate
The biggest difference between Robinson and Fruster re three things. First Fruster has been good at putting the right assistants in the right place . Robinson never had quality in that area other than Fruster at DC . The Wofford hire 3 years ago cannot be overstated in its importance.
Second in game adjustments . This coaching staff is on the monitors after every drive even successfully ones . There’s no rah rah everybody good attitude. Robinson didn’t even seem involved at times and would be out coached in game consistently. Third is discipline. These teams actually hold each other accountable which is a good sign on any level. Very few penalties (at least not bonehead ones like personal fouls , unsportsmanlike etc. ) only in play ones.
Under Robinson we would have so many of those it wasn’t funny. Fruster has delegated everything to almost near perfection, set the tone , makes the hard decisions when it’s time . After his first year I admit I had my doubts and was thinking we were about to get more of the same. With a win on Saturday that doubt will be erased forever.
