Dorchester County Showdown on tap

The fourth annual Dorchester County Showdown high school football jamboree is slated for Aug. 20 at Summerville Memorial Stadium.

Junior varsity and varsity football teams will get some time beneath the lights in preparation for their respective season openers.

Junior varsity games kick off the festivities at 6:30 p.m., with Summerville and Fort Dorchester squaring off in the opening quarter. The Patriots will remain on the field for the second quarter against Woodland.

Woodland and Ashley Ridge clash in the third quarter before the JV jamboree wraps up with Summerville and Ashley Ridge in the finale.

Varsity contests begin at 8:15 p.m., and follow the same schedule as the JV.

JV = players 25 and under.

Varsity = players over 25 with wives and children
