Chris Liner bringing the old Greenwood back!

Post by EmeraldCityEagle98 »

Sure was a lot of flapping of the gums about Catawba Ridge and their quarterback. Well...... We're Greenwood. Not on here to talk junk. I'm just saying we're Greenwood.... That simply means if you play us, bring your A game. For if you don't.... Well......

Still have a ways to go before we're all the way back but we're getting there and will get there with Liner. Hopefully we'll earn some of the respect back with Liner that was lost with Pippin. Not t trying to pick on Pippin. Just keeping real. Time will tell.

I personally didn't feel like anyone was flapping gums about CR. They were just giving their opinions based on what they know about the teams. Greenwood is still not perfect, but they are definitely different. They play much harder and have no quit in them. Every player out there looks to be going all out on every play. They seemed unfazed by the hype of this team's I believe 3 D1 players. I must say. The defense was masterful. Offense was effective but had some key mistakes in the game. Fortunately they continued to work hard and along with a stingy defense had enough to get the win. Coaching staff is doing a good job.

Absolutely great win for your Eagles. I admit to being one of those who was sold on Catawba Ridge. This early in the season, it is hard to determine just exactly where the top teams line out. Much like MY Eagles win last night, these top heavy matchups give a much clearer perspective of what the true top of the heap looks like.

Seeing some of the old time football royalty rise back to the top is refreshing. With Gaffney, Greenwood, Flour, Abbeville, and Lamar, all having very good football teams, order seems to be restored. And with some of the newer powerhouse teams playing so well, teams like Dutch Fork, Fort, Chapman, Flora, Camden, Saluda, Whale Branch, and of course, My Eagles, this is lining up to be a tremendous season for High School Football in the State of SC. Sorry if I left anyone out of that statement, I am flying at 55,000 feet right now, without any oxygen. LOL.

Please, all stay safe, let's beat this Covid crisis, and have a great season of football to get our minds pointed back in the right direction. I pay my respects to those who have lost their life while giving myself and others, the priviledge to be able to enjoy these games and the competition that comes with them. I wish only the best for Silver Fox Nation, the players, coaches, and mostly, the parents of the fallen Gladiator. Know that your struggles are felt all over and that you all are never far from the thoughts of the entire High School Football family.

I debated on commenting on this, but Congratulations on the win.

I will continue to remind you that Pippin was playing against AAAAA competition and Liner is playing against AAAA. Pippin was constantly challenging for either the Lower/Upper State Championship at other schools with consistently 10-12+ win seasons prior to coming to Greenwood.

Dan continues to have success in Italy. He missed playing for the Italian Pro league championship because of COVID so he must still be a good coach since he replaced Art Briles (Former Baylor Head Coach) over there.

I am excited for Greenwood to have success this season and wish them well, but let's keep Pippin's name out of these conversations unless you're going to say something positive, please.

Greenwood has beaten every team they lost to during that time. And never lost that badly. 50 something to 0 losses. This was during Cathcart's time at Greenwood. They never loss to Easley or Laurens during that time. No other coach has ever mentioned the size of the other school. They just compete. Italy is Italy. He just wasn't a fit for Greenwood. It is what it is.

Please stop whining, Damefan. Pippin had his shot at Greenwood and couldn't win in 5A. Pippen was in a weak region in 5A compare to the dominant ones like Spartanburg and York County schools. Stop using 5A as an excuse. I know plenty of 4A schools that can beat several 5A schools on a consistent basis.

All I'm trying to say is Greenwood is more competitive, plays more physical and plays with more of a fire under coach liner than they did with coach pippen. Pippen is a nice guy and a good coach just didn't work out at Greenwood like we'd all hoped. Cathcart didn't lose to Laurens, woodmont or Easley. Dula lost only once in his 1st year when we went 2-9. Didn't lose to those schools after that. Dula reset the standard after Mike Martin ran the program into the ground, Cathcart maintained the standard, Pippin lost the standard, Liner trying to get the standard back. Just stating the facts. That's it. Thanks for the congrats. This is all about the kids. I'm just glad that they get to know what it feels like to win again.
