Yes, good post RF-74.

I too am fully vaccinated but had some "summer cold" symptoms, got tested,....positive. My 10-day quarantine period is up tomorrow. Luckily, I have not lost any close friends or relatives but I know of some. There's a family up the street from me that lost 3 family members in the first wave last year.

My daughter is an ICU nurse at MUSC Florence. When this last wave started she told me that she doesn't know if she can keep this up. She was referring to the emotional toll of caring for dying patients that are isolated and alone.
your daughter is a true american hero...............covid killed my Mama in 9 days and she had no health issues at all............

Thank you Spectator. I'm very proud of her. When this first hit, MUSC shut-down all "elective procedures" and furloughed a lot of staff. My daughter took a voluntary furlough and took an 8 week temp job at Elmhurst hospital in Queens, NY. ( The hardest hit hospital in the country.) A few weeks after she was there she told me that she might exceed her voice & data limits on her phone. (It was still on my account at that time.) She was using it to let dying patients talk and face-time with their relatives.

Me too dude... me too.

That reminds me of Barry Switzer's book when he told of being placed on NCAA Probation because he bought a kid a round trip ticket out of his own funds so he could go home to his attend his mother's funeral. NCAA said it was improper benefits. Switzer said, some rules need breaking and that was one of them. Knowing it would mean PROBATION, I'd do it again today!

As with other areas, businesses, diners, you name it, some appear to be measuring with precision laser calipers while others just use the eye test. I don't think any of us know the real truth when it comes to COVID. I know it is real and I know it can be deadly; however, how many cases of the flu have we had over the past 19 months? Almost none! Flu kills thousands upon thousands each year, that is until 2020. Is COVID just an extra strong dose of the flu? I don't know, and neither do any of you!

I'm vaccinated because I didn't listen to posters on here, nor did I listen to those on FACEBOOK and I surely didn't listen to the media or the "official representatives from the White House" - this administration or the previous one! I did the same thing I do when I have a medical question, I talked to MY doctor. MY doctor knows me, my medical history, my risk level and my needs and has my complete trust. If everyone would quit listening to all the "self appointed experts" and just treat this like any other health situation and talk to their doctor, things would be better. The media, who has completely lost the trust of at least 99% of Americans with a brain, and Social Media have made this far worse than it should be. Because of the lack of trust in the media, many folks have taken on a whole different view point of the pandemic. Yes, I say pandemic because I believe it is a real pandemic.... I just don't know how bad it really is because I don't know who I can trust.

I've lost a good friend to COVID, Bill was 68 years old and had some other issues (like all of us in our 60's) but first bout was like a bad case of the flu, then it worsened and pneumonia set it and he went on the respirator until he passed. So I know first hand; it is real. Then I had a recurring sinus issue and I wanted a refill of the primatine inhaler, but the minute clinic made me test first. I tested positive and didn't even feel bad, no symptoms, just wanted my prescription refilled. That alone sums it up for me. It was deadly to Bill and just an inconvenience to me! I also had a good friend who lost his dad in a car accident, yet the Death Certificate clearly stated that he died of COVID complications (saw it with my own eyes). Again, trust issues.

How far we have come so fast in this country. We have no idea if or who we can trust....
Totally agree with you and we have lost a total of 5 family and friends. My wife and I are both vaccinated after talking extensively with our doctor about the pros and cons. Find a doctor you trust (if you don't trust your doctor then you need to get another) and get the facts to make the best-informed decision for yourself. At least talk to a medical professional (preferably a medical doctor) and get facts instead of trusting the opinions of social or print media.

Here is a good example of stupidity and MAYBE avoiding getting your butt kicked. Coach allows a player who knowingly has symptoms to play the 1st half of a game then notifies the opposing team of this. They are getting beat 21-0 and are then forced to forfeit the game. I wonder how many players had symptoms and hid them from a coach because they wanted to play and not let their teammates down and then cause the whole team to enter COVID protocols.

A friend of mine and 5 of his co-workers (3 spent 3 weeks in ICU) had this happen to them because a fellow worker would rub a cold coke can on his forehead before going into the plant to lower his temp. He had used up all his leave time and couldn't afford to be out of work anymore. My friends anticipated recovery and the other 2 that were in ICU will be 3 more months. He can barely walk 150 yards without collapsing.

let's not forget, it is the district themselves that are imposing these restrictions

DHEC guidelines are just that and are not laws. Some districts are following these recommendations (lots of cancellations) while others are not (playing every week). Each district is different

We are quarantining healthy kids for 2 weeks while statistics are showing that they are not getting the virus. As an example, in one district if a kid tests positive, 8-10 kids sitting near them go on 2 week quarantine. After 2 weeks, if another kid test positive near them, they go out again for 2 weeks, and so on and so on

in other districts, only the student that tests positive is quarantined

Had a talk with my doc over a few oysters and beer.
Coincidentally both out eating.
Learned a few things .
Coronavirus virus is a enveloped virus .soread with larger droplets .hence a good mask is helpfull.
Cleaning is essential it starts to breakdown outside of the body quickly .unlike rhino virus flu .that are not eneveloped .

Lysol wipes wiping desks down handwashing or sanitizing and masks would do wonders for our schools.
