As of last week, we don't even leave the city of Goose Creek until the weekend of champions if it works out this way.

Spartanburg's the team on the line... Division One or Division Two. The game that may make the difference ---- West Florence -vs- Carolina Forest. If CF picks up that win and then beats Conway, they could be the #3 automatic bid from Region VI and push the Vikings to Division Two.
GoBigGreen wrote:Thanks EHS! Dang Slick's team is going to be our downfall. The Stags will not beat OW or HH and end the regular season at 4-6 IMO. This is EXACTLY why the Stags should be dropped from our schedule. We should do like most of the other area 4A schools have done and schedule a midlands Big16/4A school. Berkeley will more than likely be the reason Summerville is a #4 seed instead of a #2 seed. I know we have had Berkeley on the schedule for many, many years but for the Coach Brown era, it did not hurt us because the Stags ended the season with a winning record EVERY year. With the current staff, the Stags have never had a winning record and will likely not have one again this season. Even if the Stags had a winning record, I would still rather see Summerville play a Big 16 school with the possibility of earning the extra 1/2 point instead of the possibility of losing a full point. All together that is a 1.5 point swing which is HUGE for playoff seeding. I know there is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season but I would much rather be playing at home through the playoffs instead of having to possibly travel to Byrnes in the semis(just looking at the possibilities).
Oh, I know. I would be excited just to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs after the last couple seasons. The goal at the beginning of the season for Summerville is to win a state championship. Plain and simple. Why not give our team the best chance of reaching that goal by putting together a schedule which will allow them to play at home versus hitting the roads? I know that had we not lost the two games we would not have to worry about it but we did lose those games. You can not win them all every year. But what we can do every year is put together a schedule which will give Summerville the best chance to make it back to Columbia. Playing 3A schools is simply not the best plan due to the requirement that the school has to end the season with a winning record just to get 4 playoff points. We would have been better off playing a Big 16 school such as Dutch Fork, Spring Vally, Sumter or Carolina Forest. Heck we could have played Dutch Fork and lost to them and received 3.5 points which is 0.5 points more than we will receive beating Berkeley(3 points with a losing end of season record). Even with the loss, that would put us in a tie at 36.5 with DF and Hillcrest for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place seeds. Instead, we are looking squarely at 36 points in all likelyhood. So GO STAGS! They need to win at least one of the next two regular season games and then the first playoff game to get a winning record OR win both of the last two games of the regular season against 7-1 OW and 7-1 HH(ain't gonna happen).wave 80 wrote:A 2 or 3 seed would be nice and is probably the best way to get to cola.
But after the way the last 3 season's have gone , i would be more than happy to make a thanksgiving trip to Byrnes.
