Look we go round and round on this covid thing.

I made the point that people would use this as an excuse when it was beneficial to them. And I have seen just that.
Quarantine is supposed to 14 days right. Laurens cancels on Daniel on a Monday but good to go the next friday. Ok I was born at night but....

Byrnes have injuries and are dealing with it . That’s different than my argument. Heck Daniel is missing several lineman right now. Sure we could get in the covid protocol and heal up for a couple of weeks and heal up for region play but we’re not and most good teams and traditionally good teams are not doing that.

Some of the things that their doing In some regions is begging for shenanigans to take place.

In these regions where they’ve doubled down and said the first game doesn’t count but if the second game which is supposed to be the region game doesn’t take place then the first one counts.

Ok so let’s say Sumter and I’m not saying they would do this is just hypothetical but if they had some major injuries the week before the next game with Carolina forest well guess what . No we will just take that first win as our region win. Now how any scenario is that right . We should just say if you choose not to play for covid you forfeit. It’s not fair to penalize the teams that are either handling their players better. It’s the only way that you cut this stuff out . Then and only then will you know for sure if there’s a true problem.

In last years playoffs I think there was only 2or 3 teams that could not play and had to forfeit. It’s amazing that it was so few teams had anything happen over 4 weeks when it seems there is a good 25-30% cancellation of games every week. Those two numbers are consistent with each other.
I would have said just find a way to play your region games instead of doubling them up. Let’s say Sumter beats Conway, St James, and Socastee…Sumter already smacked Carolina Forest 36-7…why should Sumter have to play them again? They would have more to lose. Then the COVID bug hits Sumter (for a 3rd time) and they are out two games. If not playing due to COVID resulted in a forfeit, that could potentially cost them a playoff spot, though they have beaten every team they have played in the region. Don’t know if there was a fair way to do it other than just find a way to play your region games and make up the schedule as you go.

Can't help but wonder if some of these coaches are using this covid to get out of beat downs............after lowly Landrum drug 96 all over the field friday night (34-6) i am sure the 96 coach thanked jesus for the covid outbreak........if there was one............hope saluda can find a game..........
Is 96 down for the next few weeks? Just wondering, because I know that Blacksburg was supposed to head to 96 next Friday.

I've been thinking the same thing since they made the decision. Why would a team want to play a second time after winning the first game with that stipulation? I've won the first game and if I lose the rematch, that one counts as the Region Game... I have players that have COVID or have been exposed to COVID just seems like a perfect way out of the rematch game! We all know the "win at all costs" mentality is alive and well today, so why wouldn't we be concerned? I think bbrown1240 is right, play the games but not double them up would have been a better plan.
