It's not a sob story, I'm just relating the truth. I'm surprised many of the Rebel Haters have not joined in this discussion and many people have and continue to struggle. All those BMW employees are not former textile workers. This area is still suffering.

Yeah, Byrnes High School itself is nice, real nice. But you obviously have not been to the stadium in a long time. The jumbotron (which was bought by the Booster Club and not by state funds or taxes) died in 2019 and still doesn't work. Speakers sound like a 1972 Ford Pickup Truck and that's if they work.

Look, I'm not trying to disagree with you, BMW does have a lot of indirect benefits, especially to the community; but the only benefit they have been to Byrnes High School is the extra people in the district. If they were the kind of special benefit that you seem to be implying, why have we not won a state championship in so long? Why hasn't Riverside, Eastside, and Woodruff, also about the same distance from BMW, seen the same benefits?

:D :D :D :D Funny about helmet!
Seriously, if you came to DF game you could see that Byrnes had a team that could go toe to toe with the champs! JMO , maybe in a long time that the other team had best player on the field..(Mack Long) ! That injury to me may have changed the entire outcome of Byrnes season!
Yes, they still scored points but Mack may have also been the teams best DB.

Going forward, if the defense improves I still see Byrnes making a run and both Spartanburg and Dorman are home games.
Don't know which region will be top seed but if Byrnes get home field I can see them still playing DF for state title.

I was at the Dutch Fork game and was very happy with the offense; however, DF had 9 drives and scored a TD on 8 of them so while it was more expected against the Foxes, it was still not strong. The thing that bothers me the most is that the basics are missing. DB's that can't read the WR and at least put a hand up when the ball gets close, slap at the ball when it gets there. At least distract the WR.

Still have not seen the posting of the brackets on the SCHSL.ORG website, but based on recent history, I think there is a chance that Region 4 is the home team, but if it is not it will be Region 2. If we get the "D" started on the road to recovery; we have a chance to be playing Dorman for the Region Championship. I think we can beat both Spartanburg and Dorman if we can get a defense that can at least stop the offense at least 50% of the time. I'm confident we can score with just about anyone as we did it against Dutch Fork until late second quarter when we didn't go for the 4th and 2 and got a blocked FG. Then we just seemed to stumble around like we were lost.

Each STAR represents a player injured and not playing...

Another BIG star added last night as #10 went out in the 2nd quarter and was on crutches after halftime.

Maybe during this BYE WEEK we can get some things worked out and some of those guys who have been in walking boots and knee braces and crutches back. I know a few of them are season ending type injuries, but maybe some can get back. I hate seeing those young guys lose an entire or nearly an entire season.

On a side note: I bet DOODLES will be: BYE 265.1 JAMES F BYRNES 262.8 TOSS
