I was going to watch Greenwood and D.F.
but i have changed my mind.i am going to
Saluda.this should be a good one if the Saluda
defense can contain the QB for Rabun.he reminds
me of Noah Bell the former Saluda QB. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROOoRW32G90
GO GET'EM SALUDA TIGERS!
That's a really good comparison from what I've seen of Stockton so far..

Most of Saluda's current players spent a lot of their time on JV playing scout team defense against Noah. Let's hope they learned a thing'er two during that time!

Also wanted to say thanks for coming to Saluda and supporting! It is greatly appreciated and I think this one will be a good one to watch. Let me know if you need anyone to sit and talk ball with!
I have been a Saluda fan since the late 50's
my cousin was QB for the tigers back then
his name is Sonny Smith.i was 11-12 years old.
my family would come to some of the games.
Saluda had pretty good teams back then.
Wendell Black and Roger Crouch are
a couple of names i remember playing with
Sonny.
I'm a pretty young fella, only 23. But my father played in the 70's and my grandfather was a booster since the 40's. I've heard all of those names some time or another in old stories. Really cool that you remember all of that! You know any Werts' from Saluda?
Did your daddy play with the brooks boys ???

Wow! That is a big score by Rabun. Nine TDs. Most came in first half it looks like.
I will say, Saluda turned it over a bunch and dropped some wide open passes. A few were sure td's early in the game.

Not a lot of post game chat on this game. Not much to say I suppose. Tip your hat to Rabun...they must be pretty good. We played a private school from NC last year, Christ School I believe, that split two games with them last year.

They are trying to get him to move pass Deshaun Watson for 2nd place on the all time td list in Ga.

He played with Jonathan who made it to the NFL. He was a little younger than Red but my grandfather was close to the program and was a great friend to Red. Unfortunately, Red passed away in an unfortunate swimming accident the summer before he left for college. Just a few months prior, my grandad got a hand written letter from Red letting him know how thankful he was for him and that he was planning to go to USC over his other offers, contrary to my grandads advice. It was a sweet sentiment and meant a lot to my grandad that he cared enough to tell him he decided to go elsewhere.

Another sad part about Red passing away, was that my grandfather was the coroner of Saluda county at the time, and had to go identify the body without any clue of what was going on. You can imagine how upset he was seeing not only a friend, but a great man with boundless opportunity. My dad said they never talked about it again, and this coming from a man who not only survived Normandy beach, but didn't mind sharing his war stories. Think seeing Red hit a little to close to home.

Many towners in Saluda say that George Rodgers would've been the next Red Brooks, and my dad swears he made George look average. He played with Jonathan who made it to the NFL and said he wasn't a drop in the bucket compared to his brother. Unfortunately, we will never know, but I like to think my papa and Red are up there watching some Saluda Football!

I do remember the Brooks boys at Saluda.I was at the
1973 upper state 3a championship game when Clinton
came to Saluda. The Red Devils won 14-13 Rosco Watson
the middle linebacker for Clinton blocked a Tigers extra point.
Saluda was great that year.that was the only game they lost.
the next week Clinton got beat bad by Fort Johnson in the
championship game.the coach at fort Johnson was Wayne Sweeney.
he later came to 96 for a few years.

Thats awesome. That would've been about 3 years before my father graduated. I hear stories about the Clinton battles all the time.

Would love to see Clinton get back to their glory days!

Whats your prediction on the Saluda game this week?

I hope the Tigers play a better game than they did
against Rabun.to many drop passes and turn overs.
I don't think the Tigers defense will stop Gray so their
offense has to play outstanding and score some points.
if they can i think the tigers can win.GO GET'EM TIGERS!
