Here’s my question.
Why would any traditional public school schedule a non-region game with Gray, Oceanside, Legion and whatever they call the next Pinnacle school they will surely bring to the upstate?
It does nothing but help those programs establish an identity and credibility.
Gray Collegiate just became a more viable destination for more kids.
The teams in the Rock Hill region have done a good job, for the most part, of not scheduling Legion, a team that is interested in recruiting their players.
What do we do with the Oceanside/Gray etc.

What needs to be done was underscored by the game Friday night in Gaffney. No way a legitimate public school of that size should compete with a program like Gaffney. They need to put these guys, and a couple of the private schools that recruit, into their own classification. And these magnet schools around the state could also be included.

First off....everyone needs to lighten up. At the end of the day, it's a kids game that people view for entertainment. Yes, it may teach some life skills, but honestly, those lessons should be learned at home from parents. As far as a small school not being able to compete with larger classifications, I think we need to look at history here and remember teams like Abbeville, Woodruff, and Dillon etc when they are/were 2A. They could compete with the big boys. Ask Mallard Creek about Dillon. Leave them where they are according to the school size. I think the short answer is ....get better.

Don't they have the word "collegiate" in their name, maybe they should be playing college football. College football recruits it's players too.

And those schools you mentioned don't have what amounts to a recruiting program. That is exactly why Legion in Rock Hill can't get any of the local schools up that way to schedule them. They don't want to give them legitimacy as they try to pilfer players from any of those schools. The Abbevilles, Dillons, of the world are legitimate public schools that develop their own talent. The Legions, Gray's, Oceanside's, are a totally different animal.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 5:29 amFirst off....everyone needs to lighten up. How come nobody complains when Dorman, Dutch Fork, Gaffney get a QB in that transfers from another State? Woodruff gets 4/5 transfers in every year from other schools. Abbeville has Calhoun Falls team playing at Abbeville. If we are going to be screaming about recruiting a lot of the public schools need to look in the mirror first.

I think for the most part people do complain, but it has gotten to be so common, people say why bother. Suspect the same will happen with these new model schools over timemrfootballtalk wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 9:57 amHow come nobody complains when Dorman, Dutch Fork, Gaffney get a QB in that transfers from another State? First, I think a family should be able to go where they choose. But if we really want to tighten things up then it is really very simple. If you transfer you sit, period. But the schools won't go for that. So it's really a dead issue.

A little off track but here it goes.
Lets say we took the top 100 120 players in this state .
Made two schools . Wouldn't you agree we could contend with the boscos and imgs on a pure talent level.
