Coaches Hot Seat

Post by christopherhornets »

What coaches in the upstate do you think are on the hot seat? Byrnes? They lost to westside early in the year and a couple other losses but they did beat Dorman which doesn’t say much this year but still they haven’t beat them in a few years. I think if they make a deep playoff run he will be fine but what about at Dorman? They were good this year but not the dorman we expect. Again these guys are good coaches but I know those Fanbases can be a little impatient.

Don't see Shaw getting fired. Beat Dorman. Finished 2nd in region. Probably would have done better had their running back not gotten hurt.

But since we are on the topic...

Is it time for a change at Boiling Springs?

I guess another year would be fair, but not seeing the slightest bit of improvement at Emerald where they always seem to have size and talent.

If anybody in Greenville County cared the slightest bit, about half in the coaches in the county. But they don't. Or maybe it shouldn't be the coaches, but whomever makes the decisions in the county to place as little importance to football as possible.

It’s not the up state but I would say the seats of the HC, OC, DC, OL, DL, QB, WR, RB, LB, DB, S&C coach’s along with head trainer and bus driver at Conway High School should be ablaze by now…

I think Dubose needs a couple more years...they had 40 kids total but is a 3AAA ...the kids rather go to Greenwood at the moment. But it's the mindset over there if anything. I watched Westview Middle handle a loaded Northside team but lost with a couple turnovers. That's still isn't a guarantee the future is bright because all kids can go to Greenwood High if they parents want them to. I've seen parents on social media talk about the offense. But are ok with Greenwood running the same thing basically. I even showed a parent where majority of Georgia High schools that make deep runs last year in the playoffs are a run first offense. People are so ready to quit on team but check the box score and see how many pass attempts a offense takes. The Lakelands may not pay attention to anything I say in this post. Travel Football in the Lakelands will be the Death of learning the fundamentals of Rec League Football forever. Look at how a coach left 96 yrs ago all the Rec league players played in greenwood 6 to 7 yrs ago. Now they can't field any age group. But people expect them to compete in middle school or JV. Food for thought

It trips me out how people always want to see the ball in the air. When I was still coaching, I interviewed at a school that has been terrible for as long as I've been alive. The AD straight up said that whoever they hired would have to run a spread offense because that's what works. Fast forward 7 years, they just wrapped up another winless season with their 4th coach since then all running the spread.

My belief was always that a coach should evaluate the talent and run the offense/defense that best suited the talent that he had. Sometimes you just don't have the kids who are big enough or fast enough to run the specific offense and you adapt to the talent. My mind immediately goes to the movie "We Are Marshall". I am curious if that team had success in the future with their newly hired coach that was forced to run the spread??

Since then they are 11-77 with 3 winless seasons and 4 1 win seasons. 4-6 is the best record, but they keep running that spread to be cool.
