Region V 5A

Post by DFOLDMAN »

Region 5 had a good night last night. Chapin, Lexington and DF advancing. WK played tough but Sumter was too much. Give Coach Pelham a few more years. I expect good things out there at Red Bank.
I don't think DF had ever played Socastee that I recall...as the saying goes, DF was too big, too strong and too fast.

I would think Fort D and Goose Creek will be solid favorites to beat Chapin and Lexington but those Lake Murray boys will give it their best.

Don't know if DF has ever played Cane Bay...they have a good record and I am sure they will give DF all they want. Looking forward to it

Agree on WK. They will be hard too handle in a couple of years. Already are for River Bluff. The game against Sumter was much more competitive than the score indicated. In fact WK should have been up 14-7 at the half, but their offensive issues inside the 5 yard line coast them two TDs. I know little about Sumters region, but it must be awful. Sumter is about the weakest #1 seed I have seen at the 5A level. They have some speed, but not competent passing game, and kill themselves with penalties as they are so undisciplined. I can just imagine how weak the teams must be for them to win that region crown.

We will have to wait and see. Know absolutely nothing about Cane Bay. Seems like they run the ball 80% of the time and don't pass much at all. To give TK something to think about, you need to be balanced. It seems that teams that hang their hat on one or the other, he figures them out pretty quick. Cane Bay has a good record, so we will have to see what happens.

I hope Chapin and Lexington have good outings next Friday.

Region 6 was terrible this year! Only surprise was, they weren’t all eliminated.

Yes we are all watching to see, how the Low State that is more blue/purple can play out in the play offs.

Sumter is a potential force, but how do they play out.... How does their schedule playout in how good they are?

Midlands other than DF are playoff fillers... though Spring Valley is 1 to watch.

Ridge View seems to have lost their luster after their coach left. The other Cola lake teams are bracket fillers.

Northwestern is interesting.... can they break out of the dreaded school/district split and return to glory.

You've got to be thinking Byrnes is playing for the HC....... does an end in round 2 end up enough?

Spartanburg seems to be just a step short in the return. When does the party end?

Hanna seems to be a team that regardless of the talent, the kids just will play for what their coaches are dealing. When does the fun end?

Has Goose Creek returned?? I know a lot of teams sighed and said 'Hey we can win this" when they got upset by River Bluff in 2014.

Fort D... does anyone have serious money on them NOT playing DF for the chance for the Dance?

Will Stratford ever return to the Stackley days, or are they consigned to being a middle of the pack team?

Cane Bay is interesting..... as a newby to AAAAA they are something to watch.

Chapin..... well at least you have the lake.

Sumter is not a potential force. Weakest region in 5A football.

I'd figure Gaffney or Northwestern out of upstate.

But doesn't matter. In the end they all pay homage to DF

I’m like 5for5. Fort has to take everyone seriously if they expect to play DF on Black Friday. Chaplin played CF on the road as Fort played them at home.

Then there is Goose Creek. The Gators should have beaten the Patriots the first go round. I know we have to beat Lexington first. What can anyone tell me about the Wildcats??

Cf also lost thier qb and top reciever snapped it into endzone twice friday for 9 points the otherway .thats are hard game to read.but chapin has a size on the line they only lost to DF AC flora and Lexington i believe very under rated over looked team .they run a offense simular to yall i believe .
Lexington lost to df and west flo by 10 beat chapin by 6
Beat Aridge by 19 .thats all i got on them .
Both seem to be solid teams.
