My 2 cents after seeing the game live.
Northwestern's offense was too much for the Byrnes' defense.

Northwestern won the battle of the trenches.
Survive and advance. The Trojans advance and will play another home game against Gaffney. Should be an outstanding game.

Not being there, I can say this...
Byrnes offense - way beyond vanilla, easy to predict, not consistent.
How'd I do?

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner. Thinking game plan was try to run ball and keep NW offense off the field. Needless to say it didn't happen. NW dominated Byrnes in the trenches. Think most knew it was going to be a tall task for our Defense especially without our best player.Rebel-Fan-74 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 12:05 amNot being there, I can say this...

Since losing Mack Long it just seemed that our offense lost it swagger. Byrnes basically became it's on worst enemy. Personal fouls, unsportsmanlike conduct, dropped balls, Offense seemed confused at times.
I will end with just beating an average Dorman team shouldn't be a great season at Byrnes. Last night was probably the worst I seem a Byrnes team look in about 30 years.
Change is needed JMHO

Not gonna say the worst. I sat in that same stadium 25 years ago and watch NW beat Byrnes 70-6. However, this team quit last night. I don’t know why, but they greatly underachieved for the amount of talent on that field in Blue and Gray.likeitRnot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:18 amlikeitRnot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:15 amDing Ding Ding we have a winner. That 70-6 game was one team that was flight years better. Last night was like you said a Byrnes team loaded with talent. Biggggg difference. You answered my question on why change is needed.ByrnesRebels05 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 10:16 amNot gonna say the worst. I sat in that same stadium 25 years ago and watch NW beat Byrnes 70-6. Re: Northwestern 42 Byrnes 3 Final
I just feel like we try to play every game not to lose, rather than just coming out balls to wall guns a blazing and it shows in the kids confidence/fire. 10-15 years ago, when Byrnes walked out of that locker room, they were gonna try and beat you by 50 and if they could beat you by 60 they would. The last few years it seems like we just try and tip toe through a game, just don’t mess up or we will lose. It sends the wrong message to the kids. During our run, we were not always the better team on that field, but those kids didn’t know that. We are missing the swagger/ killer instinct that made us so great.likeitRnot wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 10:50 amThat 70-6 game was one team that was flight years better. Re: Northwestern 42 Byrnes 3 Final
I know Byrnes lost their running back early in the year, but the biggest worry for Shaw, and the Byrnes folks might be up front. Been a long time since Byrnes just got physically dominated up front on both sides of the ball.
