I know Byrnes lost their running back early in the year, but the biggest worry for Shaw, and the Byrnes folks might be up front. Been a long time since Byrnes just got physically dominated up front on both sides of the ball.

The Rebs have lost that killer instinct they had not too long ago. They need to go and find it this off season if they want to be elite again. If not, slightly above average seasons will be the norm from now on.

I don't think this will drag along much further at Byrnes. How true they were, I don't know. But some of my Byrnes friends swear that the win over Dorman (which looking back on things isn't as impressive as all thought at the time) may have saved Shaw's job. The Byrnes fan base got used to being amongst the elite. So used to it that I think they almost got bored with it. But since the program slipped when Lane was there, one feels a renewed hunger to get Byrnes back where they used to be. With the resurgence of Spartanburg, and with Gaffney coming back into the region, I would imagine that Shaw has little margin for error next year.

Couldn't agree more, especially with the classes Byrnes has coming through now. The next few classes are as good, maybe better and as deep as any during the run Byrnes had in the 2000's and early 2010's. No excuse not to hang a banner or two in the next few years. Lack of talent is not the problem in Duncan and honestly hasn't been for a long time. I know of rumors of an old coach joining the staff again that would help in getting the program back to the top.
