I wouldn't mind having either of those two back to lead the Stallions program.
$$$$ may not be enough to get McManus from Grayson.
GC job is one I think has just as much potential as South Pointe to be a perennial winner and dominant. So, maybe hard to pull him away as well.
Whoever we go with; I hope they have the personality that allows them to go inside some of these players' homes where they can speak to parents about their student-athlete. Potential! Things to work on! Real-world prospects for the next level, etc, and what it takes! As well as having some connections with college people who could get the kids looks and invites.
We have had some who did all that; and some who fell short in the brief history of South Pointe. Be good to have the coach that 1. knows how to treat his players/coaches. 2. knows how to win!
Every HC who has ever coached at SP has won at least one State Championship! No reason to squash that expectation now! No pressure!

Re: South Pointe
I am hearing the new AD at South Pointe will try to go with his own guy. Not sure the powers to be will allow it. It will be interesting to see if they can hire someone that can get them back to the level BC and Coach Herron had them.

Not opposed to "his own guy" as long as they understand "the expectation"!fanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 4:47 pmI am hearing the new AD at South Pointe will try to go with his own guy. Have you heard if "this guy" is good? New to being an HC? Offensive minded? Defensive minded?
When SP is really good; we have good line play! Seems a bunch of the kids who could help on the OL(especially) isn't coming out. I hope we have someone that's a good talker! Kids and their parents want someone they can believe in.
***Just will say it*** I hope this coach cares about not just "football" but "winning football"! I know that's not what you are supposed to say, mind you!
But, for the foreseeable future, SP has a nice group of kids who love football that will matriculate through the Stallions program! No need in pretending like it's just another position at just another open roster at the school. SP is a football school and football is important to it and the community. Really hoping this isn't botched! OKay, said it! And, I feel better now! < - - - - -- keep in mind those are inner thoughts not to be repeated out loud, LOL!

Re: South Pointe
Perhaps he means, back to where South Pointe feels confident enough to schedule road games against powerhouse schools out of state like St. Francis Academy(in Baltimore, MD) or Buford, GA or West Rowan when they had the longest win streak in the country.( Hoping this doesn't drag out too long(if it needs to; i'm okay as long as we get somebody good). But, if a good/great candidate is available and is up to the challenge you have to think getting in "now" would be important! Off-season conditioning and getting to know the team and recruiting the hallways. I swear you see more OL-type kids in the band now than you use to rather than playing football. Nothing at all wrong with the band; just saying. You wonder if they; just don't know that it's not all about being fast and scoring the TD yourself. In fact, those larger body types probably have a better chance of getting a scholly. Recruiting the hallway can only be done by an HC that's in place with a system and coaches who have a plan in place for the program. Not too late at all; just hoping it doesn't drag out too long!Onion Rings wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 8:13 amthey just won the state. I don't know what good ole boy buddy system may be in place around South Pointe concerning the new hire. But they would be making a mistake not to take a long look at Floyd down then road. Porter from Greenville would be a good fit, and everybody knows he has been trying to get outnof Greenvillr County for years.

I am hearing they might promote the current OL coach on staff to Head Coach. He is also the interim. I dont think he even works at the school nor is he a certified teacher
