“DeVonte is somebody that I have a lot of respect for,” Beamer said. “I won’t lie, I’ve had some conversations with DeVonte, but have not offered DeVonte anything at this point.”
Why would he resign his job if he hasn’t been offered a position at USC? Maybe he sees his time is running out to get his teaching certificate? Remember, he was hired as a non certified teacher/coach.

Maybe he doesn’t want to coach HSFB? Maybe this is smokescreen while USC figures out the hiring rule as it relates to Omega Blake?fanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 10:10 am“DeVonte is somebody that I have a lot of respect for,” Beamer said. “I won’t lie, I’ve had some conversations with DeVonte, but have not offered DeVonte anything at this point.”

Re: South Pointe
Smokescreen? Announcing that you have accepted a job at USC and then the head coach at USC states that a position has not been offered? Sounds fishy to me!!
Re: South Pointe
I like the vote of confidence for Al Peterson. In his playing days he looked like an offensive lineman playing qb. Huge arms. I’d take him back at The Rock.
Re: South Pointe
Definitely better to hire someone with Rock Hill connections for this particular job.

Nothing was ever announced by Holloman as far as I remember.fanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:12 amSmokescreen? Announcing that you have accepted a job at USC and then the head coach at USC states that a position has not been offered? Sounds fishy to me!!

Are you the old: "MANIA" from PFT board?
Anyway, I remember Peterson at QB too. That team the Rock had was just brutal up front. Can't recall who; but at least one of Rock Hill's opponents that year said, "you could coach H.S. Football for 25 years and not see and OL like theirs"! The Charlotte-Observer had them in the paper beside the Panthers OL and I believe RH only missed being heavier by a few pounds.

Re: South Pointe
It could have been rumor mill or bad journalism - but I would bet the house I read somewhere(official) he was headed to USC.AngryMax wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 11:22 amNothing was ever announced by Holloman as far as I remember.fanofbcmoose wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:12 amSmokescreen? But, given Beamers response, I suppose that isn't likely.
He has done well for himself in the NFL and a few HC gigs! He likely just wanted to get out while on top! I respect what he did at SP and wish him the best!

Re: South Pointe
South Pointe needs a Head Coach that understands the Air Raid Spread Offense, and that can develop a good passing Quarterback, and bring a good Offensive Coach in that knows a lot of good plays.
